The Job system is how classes are distinguished in Final Fantasy XIV, and dictates just what abilities are, or will become, available to you as you level up. What makes FFXIV so unique is that you're never locked to just one Job. For example, while you might start down the path of Dragoon, you might decide that DPS just isn't for you and choose to switch to a Tank class like Dark Knight.
Things start to get tricky given that each Job has its own set skills and abilities. How you use them in sequence during combat is called a rotation. Unlike other MMOs like WoW, you don't really have a choice in what abilities you unlock, so everyone in a specific Job will have the same abilities when levelling up. This also means that there are ideal rotations for each Job that anyone can utilize, as long as they've hit the required level.
The Best Rotations For Each Job In FFXIV
Below, we've compiled guides for each Job in FFXIV and how to get the most out of the rotations for each one:
Tank
Healer
Melee DPS
Ranged DPS
Magical Ranged DPS
- Black Mage
- Summoner
- Red Mage
- Blue Mage (Limited Job)
We'll be seeing a few new Jobs join the line-up with the launch of FFXIV's next expansion, Dawntrail. Viper and Pictomancer will be two new DPS jobs available at launch for those who purchase the new expansion. A new limited Job, Beastmaster, will also be rolling out during the expansion's cycle.
It's worth noting that the above guides are best used in general PvE combat and dungeons. Separate abilities are made available when engaging with PvP.
