We all anticipated a patch for Elden Ring's Shadow of The Erdtree to be released shortly after its launch, as it's common for most new titles and DLCs to receive a few post-release adjustments.
This expectation was heightened due to numerous complaints about the game's performance. However, what surprised us was a buff to all players, making the overall DLC easier. So let's delve into the details of this patch and examine the changes that have players breathing easier in the Land of Shadow.
Latest Patch For Shadow Of The Erdtree Makes The Game Easier And Improves Performance
The latest patch for Elden Ring's Shadow of The Erdtree named the "Calibration Update - Version 1.12.2" by the developers, has boosted the power of the Shadow Realm Blessings found exclusively in Erdtree's areas. Both Scadutree Fragments and Revered Ash Blessings have received increases to their attack and damage negation for the "first half of the maximum amount of Blessing enhancements." After obtaining the first half, subsequent blessings will provide a more gradual increase to your stats.

To get the update, you'll need to log in to the multiplayer servers after booting up the game. You'll know you're on the right build if you see "1.12.2" at the bottom right of the title menu. FromSoft says that later "balance adjustments as well as bug fixes" are planned for a future patch.
This is great news for players struggling with the difficulty, but FromSoft has also addressed some of the performance complaints players have had since the most recent patch. The patch notes suggest checking in System > Graphics Settings > Raytracing Quality settings to see if it's been toggled on automatically. If it has, it might be worth switching it off to see if performance improves.
Generally speaking, it seems that FromSoftware has heard players' concerns about both difficulty and performance issues. They are aiming to balance the difficulty changes with these Shadow Blessing buffs and take a strong approach to rectifying performance issues with this and future patches.
Here's hoping that the patches continue to improve on what is already quite a masterpiece of a DLC and that we continue to get an improved experience as we traverse the Land of Shadow together with our fellow Tarnished.
