We're approaching the release of one of the most eagerly awaited DLCs in recent years, Elden Ring's Shadow of The Erdtree. While many are excited to dive in as soon as it launches, it seems that a significant number of players won't be able to access it right away, since it requires completing a specific achievement first.
Let's quickly review the achievement in question, how many players have yet to complete it, and how much time remains to do so.
You Can't Access Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Without The Mohg, Lord of Blood Achievement
Mohg, Lord of Blood is one of the bosses in the game but is technically an optional boss that you don't need to defeat to progress the storyline further. However, as recently brought forward by CohhCarnage on X (formerly Twitter), you need to have defeated Mohg, Lord of Blood, before being able to play Shadow of the Erdtree as there is an achievement for beating him that's required.
There is an achievement on Steam for beating Mogh. Which the @ELDENRING devs have said you have to beat for the DLC. 37.8% of Steam players have this achievement.

This means that 62.2% of Steam players that have Elden Ring...
Will not be able to play the DLC! 🤣
Now when taking a look at the game's Steam achievements, it seems that only 37.8% of its players have made it that far. If we check other platforms, only 55% of PlayStation and 45% of Xbox players have defeated Mohg. This means that across all platforms only 54% of the player base has defeated Mohg in battle.
Given the fact that this is an optional boss, it's fairly understandable that the player count is that low, and to be fair this isn't the first time that FromSoftware has given us requirements for a DLC. And thankfully, as Bandai Namco jumped in to say, fans do still have time, or rather less than two weeks, to defeat him (but the clock is ticking).
Fans also seem to think that this isn't a huge deal, as one supporter said, "If they can't beat him they won't beat the DLC so it's all good." Another few fans added, "62.2% of players better git gud real quick," and, "This is the fastest I have ever run to check my Steam achievements. Thankfully I beat him. Lol."
So while the bar for entry of the DLC is fairly high (as Game Director Hidetaka Miyazaki previously stated both Starscourge Radahn and Mohg have to be beaten before enjoying the DLC) there is still time to do so and join the ranks of players diving into Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree from day one.
