Destiny 2 The Final Shape is set to be the beginning and end of many things in the game. For instance, its campaign and raid will conclude the Light and Darkness Saga. There have been rumors floating about a potential new red subclass. Furthermore, everyone's favorite space cowboy, Cayde-6, is finally making his much-awaited return.
In addition, Bungie is also making some fundamental changes to Destiny 2. This includes (but is not limited to) enhancements to the game's ritual content, like bounties. In The Final Shape, Bungie is introducing a new Pathfinder mechanic, which could eventually replace the traditional bounty system in the game. Here's everything you need to know about it.
What Is Pathfinder In Destiny 2 Final Shape?
The Pathfinder is a new elaborate bounty system coming to Destiny 2 The Final Shape. As of this writing, Bungie hasn't revealed much about this system except the work-in-progress preview image you see below.
By the looks of it, it seems like a cluster of nodes (objectives?) that eventually leads to a reward, in this case, a Prime Engram. These nodes could be different tasks, completing which will lead you to the final reward. These nods could provide flexibility to choose what objectives you finish or activities you pursue to complete a particular bounty.
Or it could be something else entirely, but the branching pathways suggest multiple ways to reach a goal. Does this mean we are getting more powerful bounties? Surely there can't be multiple objectives to earn a single Prime Engram or a handful of XP? Perhaps, it's a bounty system primarily for farming end-game resources? There are plenty of possibilities but no straight answers. Here's hoping Bungie sheds more light on this in its upcoming Destiny 2 Showcase.
Naturally, we will keep our eyes and ears open for any details regarding the Pathfinder system in Destiny 2 and update this article accordingly.
