BLAST Premier Spring Final: Vitality vs. Virtus.pro Report
You'll find more details about what happened on each map of the Vitality vs. Virtus.pro opening match in Group B below.
Vitality vs. Virtus.pro Map 1 Inferno
On the CT side, Vitality kicked off their BLAST Premier Spring Final 2024 Group B run with a clean pistol round against Virtus.pro, and converted the second round for a quick 2-0 lead on Virtus.pro's map pick of Inferno.
In the first gun round from Virtus.pro, Vitality put on the pressure and executed a rock-solid defense while James escaped with his weapon in hand.
Virtus.pro tried multiple tactics on the T side of Inferno, from faster plays and banana pushes to slower, methodical pushes. However, Vitality continued to force VP to take A site, and then shut them down, taking an early and commanding 5-0 lead.
Vitality continued to pressure Virtus.pro, not giving them any room to breathe. While there were a few close rounds, Vitality extended their lead to 8-0,
An over-extension in the 9th round gave Virtus.pro their first win on Inferno. With some momentum on their side, Dzhami "Jame" Ali led his team to another round win, this time pushing the A site. The first half finished with an 8-4 scoreline in Vitality's favor, leaving VP with some hope.
Starting on the T side in the second half, Vitality kicked things off with a strong pistol half as Shahar "flameZ" Shushan jumped around the corner with a Glock for the first kill, and it just went pear-shaped for VP form there. Virtus.pro lost their force buy attempt, giving Vitality a 10-4 lead.
Vitality continued to push their advantage, putting a lot of pressure on Virtus.pro and breaking through the bombsites repeatedly before Virtus.pro finally pulls one back in the 17th round.
Vitality didn't want to waste any more time, and in the 18th round, closed out Inferno with a 13-5 map win.
Vitality vs. Virtus.pro Map 2 Dust2
On Vitality's map pick of Dust2, ZywOo popped off with his P250 on the T side to win the pistol round in a 2v4 situation. Virtus.pro decided not to force buy in the second round, so Vitality picked up an easy round win for a 2-0 scoreline.
Vitality's British rifler, William "mezii" Merriman, saved his team from a loss in the third round, pulling off a nice 2v1 clutch on the A site, denying Virtus.pro the defuse. However, VP didn't go down without a fight, clawing one back in the fourth round.
Vitality quickly recovered and continued to pick off Virtus.pro time and time again to pull 5-1 ahead early on Dust2 before Virtus.pro took a tactical pause.
After Vitality scored their 6th round win, Virtus.pro pushed back with two round wins in a row for a 6-3 scoreline in favor of Vitality, steadily closing the gap.
As the first half of Dust2 came to a close, Denis "electroNic" Sharipov started clicking heads like a man possessed, but Vitality still recovered to win the first half 7-5 after a serious fumble from Virtus.vp in the 11th round.
On the CT side, Vitality wasted no time claiming a pistol round win. Interestingly, Virtus.pro did not win one pistol round on Inferno or Dust2. Vitality pushed their advantage, taking a 9-5 lead.
The Chosen One, aka Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut, scored four kills in the 15th round to secure Vitality a 10-5 scoreline on Dust2.
In the 17th round, electroNic gave Virtus.pro fans some hope with high-impact plays and forced Vitality into two save rounds, converting for an 11-8 scoreline. In the 20th round, Virtus.pro shut down Vitality on a buy, crushing their economy once again. Virtus.pro then converted for an 11-10 scoreline favoring Vitality, and in a messy 22nd round, Jame pulled off three kills in the B site to even up the scoreline.
While Virtus.pro pulled ahead in the 23rd round, and in the 24th round, Petr "fame" Bolyshev pulled off an incredible ace to win the map for Virtus.pro and force a deciding third map.
Vitality vs. Virtus.pro Map 3 Anubis
On the third and deciding map, Anubis, Virtus.pro kicked off with a pistol round win on the T side, their first of the series. Virtus.pro then converted two rounds for an early 3-0 lead and took out Vitality's full buy in the 4th round as well.
Virtus.pro continued to push their advantage, going up 6-0 in the early game. It took four kills from ZywOo in the 7th round to get Vitality's CT side on the board and then converted another round to make it 6-2.
Virtus.pro ended up looking incredibly strong on the T side, as Vitality only scored 3 CT rounds. At the end of the first half of Anubis, it was 9-3 in favor of Virtus.pro.
With momentum from the first half, Virtus.pro won the pistol round on the CT side of Anubis. However, Vitality pulled off a win on the force buy round, making it 10-4 in favor of Virtus.pro.
Virtus.pro came out swinging in the next couple of rounds, putting themselves in a 12-5 match point situation with a whole lot of room for error. That's when Vitality started to claw their way back, winning 6 rounds in a row.
While Vitality did manage to make a bit of a comeback, Virtus.pro managed to close out the map 13-10, showing their big-match temperament and sending out a huge message to all teams in London...that they shouldn't be underestimated.
