Black Ops 6 Introduces Saving to Zombies for the First Time

We've never been able to save the game in a round-based Zombies mode before, but Treyarch are shaking things up this year.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will see the return of round-based Zombies, something the community has been crying out for these past few years. While this year's Zombies offering will be more of what we know and love, Treyarch have added in a few curve balls to freshen things up. For one, you'll now be able to pause and save during your Zombies run.

In a recent intel drop on all things Zombies, Treyarch gave fans a deeper glimpse into what to expect from the upcoming mode. There's a lot to take in throughout the document, but the 'Pausing, Saving, and Recovery' section warranted some attention.

The blog breaks down the section into three:

Pausing

Solo matches can be paused to allow players to take "a quick break." After a finite amount of time without resuming, the game will automatically save at the point of pause. You'll then need to load that save file to continue.

Saving

For the first time, players will be able to save their Solo match in Zombies at any time. However, you'll need to be at full health, not downed, dead or engaged in an Exfil. You'll be able to load the save data to pick up from where you left off.

Recovery

Recovery affects the game when the game's servers, or a player's internet connection, disrupt the match and cause players to disconnect. Solo players will be able to load back into the game at the point of disconnect. Squad players can rejoin and continue the match after a short spectating time, as long as the host is still active.

Fans have already had a mixed bag of thoughts when it comes to these new implementations, namely the fact that this all means Zombies will require an internet access at all times. However, Treyarch have cleared up their reasons for this, stating that improved visual quality and lower file sizes necessitate a constant internet connection.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches on October 25, 2024 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and on Xbox Game Pass.
