Two new weapons are coming to Battlefield 2042 in the Season 1 update, and one of them is the Ghostmaker R10 Crossbow, another addition to the utility section of weapons. Each weapon in the category offers unique stats and playstyles that don't fit anywhere else, which is perfect for a crossbow.
Earning and unlocking the Ghostmaker R10 is simple enough in the new season, but it won't be the same method as unlocking weapons from the base game. Instead, you'll need to rely on the Zero Hour Battle Pass added in Season 1 if you want to start shooting bolts at the opposition.
How to unlock the Ghostmaker R10 Crossbow in Battlefield 2042 Season 1
To unlock the Ghostmaker R10 Crossbow in Battlefield 2042, you will need to focus on the Battle Pass level within Season 1 rather than the normal ranking system. Battle Pass systems like this are nothing new to FPS games, but it's certainly new for the Battlefield series as a whole.
There is a premium pass option and free tier option that you can opt-in or out of. Using the premium pass wil cost money of course, but if you'd rather skip that part, there is no need to worry. The Ghostmaker R10 is part of the free reward tiers. Though the weapon is entirely free, everyone who wants it will need to earn it.

At level 29 of the Season 1 Battle Pass, the new crossbow will become available under the utility line of weapons. Of all the new playable content included within the Battle Pass, the Crossbow will take the longest to earn, beyond the new Operator and weapon.
When Season 1 comes to an end, there will be a new Battle Pass with new weapons to unlock. That means in the future the R10 will likely head to an unlock menu that requires a challenge to unlock. What that could be is unconfirmed entirely.
Ghostmaker R10 Crossbow stats in Battlefield 2042
As a utility crossbow, the Ghostmaker R10 offers up a hybrid of speed and power when compared to other weapons. This can be a blessing and a curse depending on your skill level with the R10. It packs a punch, but it shoots projectiles and has a very low fire rate.
Every time a bolt is shot, the weapon needs to be loaded with another shot. On the bright side though, the weapon handles like a snappy version of a marksman rifle. It takes two body shots or an explosive shot to confirm a kill. One bolt to the head will also kill an enemy. The base weapon stats are listed below.
- Firepower: 60
- Accuracy: 58
- Range: 61
- Handling: 34
- Rate of fire: 110
Keep in mind that this weapon is best used at close ranges and is not a great sniper option. Get close to your enemies and make every bolt count in a fight.
