In the recent release of the Scorched Earth DLC for ARK Survival Ascended, numerous new resources have been added, including Silk, which might slip the minds of many players. This resource holds vital importance as it enables the crafting of wearable armor and shelters, making its acquisition essential for survival.
Whether you're unfamiliar with gathering Silk or simply seeking a refresher on the process, you're in the right place. Below, we'll guide you through obtaining Silk efficiently in ARK Survival Ascended Scorched Earth.
How To Get Silk In ARK Survival Ascended | Scorched Earth
Silk can be used to build tents, whips, and Desert cloth armor in Scorched Earth, which makes it an invaluable resource early on in the game for starting survivors. Thankfully, you have two reliable options to harvest Silk in the game, which either come from a flower or a specific creature on the island.
When it comes to the plants, you can harvest Silk from either the pink or white plants that litter the Desert of Scorched Earth using a Sickle (you can use your hands, but it yields far less Silk). The White flowers appear on banks of dry riverbeds, and the Purple flowers appear in large amounts at roughly (62,48) on the map.
Then we have the creature that can give you Silk, which is the Lymantria, a large silk moth/butterfly-looking creature that you might have spotted already. These creatures are passive, so you won't have to prepare for a fight, but you will need a weapon to use, so make sure you have one.
These creatures are fairly easy to spot on the map as they tend to spawn almost everywhere, but the best spot to farm for them is in the northwest and southern mountain regions of the map. Once you find one, the steps are fairly simple to harvest the Silk.
Simply kill the Lymantria and harvest its body for the Silk, which can be expedited and made more efficient through the use of a Sabertooth to harvest it or a metal hatchet. Both methods will allow you to harvest Silk, but switching to a tame or tool will always be faster than using your hand to harvest the Silk.
