Having just been released on ARK Survival Ascended's The Center map, the Shastasaurus is one of the new dinosaurs on the block and has quickly become a popular tame. This is due to its various uses and abilities that make it not only a formidable option for aquatic combat but also useful as a mobile fortress (more on that later).

In this guide, we will discuss exactly what the Shastasaurus's abilities are and their various uses in the game, making it such a desirable tame in ARK Survival Ascended's The Center.

ARK Survival Ascended Shastasaurus Saddle And Uses

The Shastasaurus, a massive whale-like aquatic dinosaur, roams the expansive oceanic biomes of The Center map. While its size alone makes it a formidable predator, it boasts additional abilities that render it an invaluable asset for navigating the seas. However, before delving into its capabilities, let's first discuss how you can access these abilities, which is through the Shastasaurus saddle/submarine.

The saddle is a unique type that appears to be TEK-based (although curiously, it doesn't require any TEK materials to craft). It features a large submarine beneath it, providing ample room for storage and dino passengers, and is considered the ultimate underwater base in the game. To craft it, you'll need the following materials:

• Recipe Unlock Level: 100
• 200 Cementing Paste: Crafted with Chitin or Keratin and Stone.
• 150 Electronics: Crafted with Silica Pearls and Metal Ingot in a Fabricator.
• 250 Silica Pearls: Found in deep oceans and shallow areas from the icy biome.
• 350 Crystal: Gathered with a metal pick or mining Dinosaurs like the Ankylosaurus by targeting white crystals.
• 1,500 Metal: Mined from metal rocks with a Metal Pick or mining Dinosaurs like the Ankylosaurus.

ARK Survival Ascended Shastasaurus Abilities

Once you have the saddle and have tamed your Shastasaurus (refer to our Shastasaurus taming guide if you haven't done so yet), you can equip it and ride around on your Submarine-Shastasaurus. While riding this, you gain access to all of the Shastasaurus's abilities, listed below:

• Bite/Tail Slam: When looking forward and Right-clicking, the Shasta will bite. When looking behind you, the Shasta will whip its tail, slamming anyone behind it.
• Periscope: Allows you to view the outside and zoom in and out on faraway locations from the perspective of a small scope on the top of the Shasta's back.
• Torpedo: Unleashes torpedoes, transforming your Shastasaurus into a formidable weapon.
• Flash Bang: Releases a wave of energy and light from the Shasta's mouth that stuns nearby enemies.
• Pulse: Releases a pulse of energy in a small radius around the Shasta that stuns nearby enemies and knocks them back.
• Sonar: Let out a SONAR wave that pings nearby objects and creatures.
