The Center map has finally arrived in ARK: Survival Ascended, bringing a host of new features, mechanics, and, of course, dinos and creatures to tame. One of these new additions is the Pyromane, a fiery feline creature that offers more than just a striking appearance.

If you're curious to learn why the Pyromane is a valuable Tame in The Center, keep reading. Below, we will showcase and explain all the abilities of the Pyromane in ARK: Survival Ascended - The Center.

Pyromane Abilities in ARK Survival Ascended The Center

Similar to the Phoenix found in the scorched desert region of Scorched Earth, the Pyromane is a formidable creature engulfed in flames. With its fiery nature, its abilities are predominantly fire-based, and it even can transform into a smaller shoulder pet version for convenient transportation in cramped spaces such as caves. This makes it a highly desirable tame to have on your side, especially when traversing The Center. Let's delve into the Pyromane's abilities below:

The Pyromane sports some powerful flame-based abilities that can deal tons of damage to your enemies or be used tactically in a group. (Picture: YouTube / Teachers Game Too)
  • Bite (L-Click): The Pyromane inflicts a biting attack on its target, dealing 20 damage and causing a burning effect. This ability can be used every 0.67 seconds, both by a rider and autonomously by the AI.
  • Flame Trail (Hold secondary): Leaving a blazing trail in its wake, the Pyromane can ignite its surroundings. However, this ability is ineffective in rainy conditions. Similar to the Bite, it can be triggered every 0.67 seconds.
  • Flame Boost (Ctrl-primary): The Pyromane enhances its damage output by 50% by consuming its accumulated flames. It can activate this boost every 0.67 seconds.
  • Flame Leap (R-Click): With a powerful leap, the Pyromane damages anything in its path. This ability has a cooldown of 5.0 seconds.
  • Flame Absorb (Ctrl-secondary): By absorbing fire from nearby sources, the Pyromane replenishes its flame reservoir. This ability can be activated every 0.67 seconds.
  • Swap to Shoulder Pet (Ctrl-C): Transforming into its compact shoulder pet form, the Pyromane becomes more manageable for transportation. Like its other abilities, this transformation can be initiated every 0.67 seconds.

Pyromane Uses in The Center Map

Now that we've explored its impressive abilities, let's discuss its utility in the game. Despite its imposing appearance, the Pyromane serves multiple purposes that can significantly aid your survival journey:

The Pyromane also sports some great non-combat uses such as passive buffs and cooking abilities. (Picture: YouTube / Teachers Game Too)
  • Passive Cooking: Meat and fish stored in the Pyromane's inventory are cooked at a rate similar to that of a campfire. Additionally, it autonomously produces Cooked Meat Jerky and Prime Meat Jerky from cooked meat without the need for additional fuel.
  • Fuel Source: Pyromane can supply fuel to wood-burning objects like Campfires and Refining Forges. Its radius of influence can be adjusted using its radial menu, ranging from Off to High.
  • Shoulder Pet: While perched on your shoulders, the Pyromane grants you the "Cuddled by Fire" buff, significantly boosting your resistance to both cold and heat. When mounted, you'll receive the "Wreathed in Fire" buff, providing substantial cold resistance and unparalleled heat resistance, enabling you to withstand lava without harm.

However, it's crucial to be aware of its vulnerability to water. Upon entering the water, the Pyromane incurs the "Doused" debuff, rendering it unable to execute Flame Leap and diminishing its fire-related buffs. Nonetheless, this debuff lasts only 5 seconds upon leaving the water, and its passive cooking and object-fueling abilities remain unaffected.

In conclusion, with proper caution around water, the Pyromane proves to be a formidable ally throughout your adventures in The Center of ARK Survival Ascended, showcasing its prowess as a primary tame choice.
