How To Tame A Dreadnoughtus in ARK Survival Scedned Extinction

Taming the Dreadnoughtus is relatively simple in terms of the steps involved, but it can be tricky if you don’t have the right gear. Before starting the taming process, make sure you’re equipped with a strong weapon, ideally a rifle or another firearm, and have enough Element to complete the taming.

Once you’ve located a Dreadnoughtus in the wild, the first step is to feed it some Element. After feeding, the creature will follow you for a short time. Your goal is to lead it to an Element Vein or node, which are large purple glowing structures scattered across the map.

It’s best to find a Dreadnoughtus near one of these veins and plan a clear path to lead it there (the creature’s pathfinding can be a bit clunky, so choose a route with fewer obstacles). Once you get it to the Element Node, the vein will break apart when the Dreadnoughtus gets close, and it will start feeding.

At this point, a taming progress bar will appear above the creature, and a mini-game begins. Waves of smaller dinos will start attacking the Dreadnoughtus, and your task is to defend it until the taming bar fills up. The Dreadnoughtus has a health bar that tracks how many hits it can take, and if the bar empties, it will stop eating and either flee or fight the other dinos.

You’ll need to keep the attacking creatures off the Dreadnoughtus while it’s feeding. If you can protect it long enough for the taming bar to fill, the Dreadnoughtus will be tamed and ready for battle.

Dreadnouthgtus Abilities And Uses in Extinction

The Dreadnoughtus is a massive creature, easily double the size of the Giganotosaurus, and one of the first things you’ll notice is just how slow it is. This makes sense, though, considering its insane health and damage output - it needs to be balanced out with slower speed. Because of this, the Dreadnoughtus is arguably one of the best tanks or base defenders you can have. Now, let’s dive into its abilities:

Neck Swing

• The Dreadnoughtus swings its neck, dealing 1080 damage and knockback.
• Can be used every 7.5 seconds by both the rider and AI.

Tail Swing

• The Dreadnoughtus swings its tail, dealing 1080 damage and knockback.
• Can be used every 7.5 seconds by both the rider and AI.

Vomit Cannon

• The Dreadnoughtus shoots an acid cannonball, dealing 2250 damage to creatures or 1012 damage to structures.
• Uses 1 Cannon Ball from its inventory.
• Can be used every 10 seconds by both the rider and AI.

EMP Roar

• The Dreadnoughtus releases an Element-powered roar, dealing 200-450 damage and applying an EMP-affected debuff.
• Consumes 1 Element from inventory.
• Can be used every 120 seconds by both the rider and AI.

These abilities make the Dreadnoughtus excellent for taking down intruders or smaller dinosaurs, but due to its slow attack speed, it’s best suited for facing off against other slower creatures. This is especially evident with its Titan Slayer buff, which activates when fighting larger creatures, boosting both its damage and damage resistance. The buff’s increase ranges from 5% to 50%, depending on the drag weight of the enemy creature.

Additionally, whenever the Dreadnoughtus takes a significant amount of damage within a short period, it stacks a Disdain buff, which can be accumulated up to 20 times. Each stack boosts the EMP Roar's damage and effect duration, but the stacks are consumed after the attack. Of course, the Dreadnoughtus can also be equipped with a Platform Saddle, allowing you to build on its back.
