ARK: Survival Ascended consistently delivers exciting new content, and even when the developers aren't releasing updates, the modding community is always active. Occasionally, the devs even integrate fan-made creations into the official game, such as the newly introduced Archelon.

This tanky aquatic turtle is not only incredibly tough and durable for underwater adventures, but it also boasts unique passive abilities that significantly enhance survival. Let’s dive into how to tame the Archelon in ARK: Survival Ascended and explore this new creature's abilities.

How To Tame An Aechelon In ARK Survival Ascended

Taming the Archelon in ARK: Survival Ascended is fairly straightforward, as it uses a passive taming method. To tame one, place Bio Toxin or Superior Kibble in the last slot of your hotbar, then press the E key when near the Archelon while underwater. This will build up its taming meter until it’s fully tamed.

This process is simple for most players, and thanks to the Archelon's abilities, it’s a valuable asset from the early game. Now, let’s dive into its abilities.

ARK Survival Ascended Archelon Abilities And Roles

Although the Archelon isn't highly offensive, it has a basic bite attack and can ascend or descend through the water as you explore oceanic maps. Where it truly shines is in its stats and passive abilities.

One standout feature is its immunity to Cnidaria stings. The Archelon also harvests additional Bio Toxin from Cnidaria, and when it kills one, it gains a buff that increases both its damage and Bio Toxin harvesting ability.

As a tank-style dino, even at lower levels, the Archelon boasts an impressive health pool. Combined with the damage reduction from both the Jellyfish Killer buff and full imprinting, it can withstand a considerable amount of damage.

However, it does have slow health regeneration and struggles to attack enemies behind it. Having other survivors assist with Pikes or Crossbows can help address this weakness. It’s a good idea to level up Health, Melee Damage, and a bit of Movement Speed and Stamina to optimize its performance.

Additionally, the Archelon has a high Weight capacity, making it an excellent oceanic cargo hauler. With a bit of leveling in Health and Stamina, then focusing on Movement Speed and Weight, it can transport large amounts of goods across the map. Its four-person saddle also allows you to carry up to four people at once.

With its vertical mobility, immunity to Cnidaria stings, and durability, the Archelon serves as a helpful transport unit. Considering all these abilities, be sure to tame an Archelon to enhance your survival in ARK: Survival Ascended!
