Friday the 13th: The Game servers will shut down for good tonight, 31 December, as developers originally announced this time last year. Also around this time in 2023, the game was removed from digital stores, preventing new players from purchasing the game as developers prepared for sunsetting it.
Friday The 13th: The Game was originally released by IllFonic and Gun Interactive in 2017, just a year after its fellow asymmetrical horror Dead by Daylight. The game rose in popularity but faced licensing issues and eventually lower player counts, resulting in its closure this year.
While Friday the 13th: The Game might be over, its creators are continuing to work on their own asymmetrical titles. Gun Interactive is behind The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, with IllFonic boasting the Killer Klowns From Outer Space title.
For now, Jason isn't set to be in any new games in the future that we know of - but depending on how licensing issues play out, he could very well come to Dead by Daylight or another popular asymmetrical horror game. Though nothing is official, it's possible Jason could find a new game to call home in 2025, so campers should keep their eyes and ears peeled for more info.
