Gen.G opens huge LA esports facility

Gen.G Esports, parent company of the Overwatch League's Seoul Dynasty, has announced the opening of its state-of-the-art esports training facility in Los Angeles, California.

The organisation currently houses teams in Overwatch, League of Legends, Call of Duty, Fortnite, Apex Legends, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Clash Royale.

As it stands, the Call of Duty, Fortnite and Apex Legends teams will be training out of the facility, whilst Seoul Dynasty will be using it until the 2020 OWL season where they will head home to Seoul.

Based out of Electronic Arts’ Los Angeles studio building, Gen.G’s 13,000-square-foot space includes three scrim rooms, six soundproof streaming rooms, and a film review room, all outfitted with fiber internet connections. Players will be provided nearby apartments as well as access to facilities such as gym, meals and personal trainers to ensure their health and wellness.

“Establishing our presence globally has been a priority over the last few years — that included the introduction of competitive US-based teams,” Arnold Hur, Chief Operating Officer, Gen.G Esports said.

“Gen.G couldn’t be more excited about the progress we’ve made in the US market. We have an amazing group of players on board and they’re now in a top-notch setting where they’ll continue to sustain a winning culture.”

Gen.G's Call of Duty team finished in second place at the last two CWL open events, in Anaheim and Miami respectively, with a seriously impressive run in Miami that saw the team nearly cause one of the biggest upsets in recent CoD history by taking down fan-favourite Clayster's eUnited side.

Could this be a small hint towards Gen.G having a team in the franchised Call of Duty League? If so, the news should come out soon enough and put another top-tier organisation in the league.
