As the new year gets rolling, surprises are sure to be in store all across wrestling that could end up impacting the WWE 2K24 roster. Contracts are always in flux, and some well timed expirations have created exciting free agents many fans already have their eyes on.
One former NXT Champion is reportedly on his way back to the company, but will he make it into WWE 2K24? Here's everything we know so far about Andrade being on the WWE 2K24 roster.
Will Andrade El Idolo ("Cien" Almas) be in WWE 2K24?
After nearly two years as a member of All Elite Wrestling, Andrade El Idolo looks to be on his way back to WWE. According to a new report from Fightful Select, "Andrade's AEW deal has expired" and "he's expected to immediately sign with WWE." His possible inclusion in WWE 2K24 has not been confirmed, but there's a definite chance we'll see him before the end of the year.
While he was part of AEW Fight Forever and a regular fixture of the company at different points in the last few years, the man who was once known as Andrade "Cien" Almas was a multi-time champion in WWE. After an already impressive career with CMLL in Mexico and NJPW in Japan where he was a founding member of Los Ingobernables as La Sombra, Andrade signed with WWE in late 2015.
He slowly rose up to become a major piece of the growing NXT brand, and Andrade "Cien" Almas" captured the NXT Championship by defeating Drew McIntyre at the first NXT TakeOver: WarGames. Over the next few years Andrade made a definitive impact in WWE and became a one-time WWE United States Champion, and his presence earned a spot on the WWE 2K19 and WWE 2K20 roster.
Much of the franchise was rebuilt following the disastrous release of WWE 2K20, but it's likely that many of Andrade's existing moves and animations are present from those past versions of him. They'll probably need a new scan to get Andrade into the next release, and that makes the chances very slim that he'll make the WWE 2K24 roster at launch. However, a post-launch DLC featuring Andrade is much more likely and could arrive this summer.
