As players bid farewell to the Steam Summer Sale, which ended on 11th July 2024, Valve rolled out their next spotlight festival celebrating independent games. The Independent Games Festival Celebration Days event has officially kicked off, and players will find numerous indie games from single developers and studios and plenty of discounts on various games, bundles, and more for a limited time.
This celebration event is a partnership between Valve, the Independent Games Festival (IGF), publisher Crunching Koalas, "the Game Developers Conference (GDC), and dozens of indie studios," which, during the event, brings some of the best indie games to a massive audience. The celebration event will run between 11th and 20th July 2024, with a livestream available to stream from Steam's Store page.
During the Celebration Days event, players can access a vast range of indie gaming releases, with spotlights that recognize the best titles to be honored at the IGF event. According to a press release from the IGF, "the Independent Games Festival has been the launching point for some of the industry's biggest indie games," for which over 80 titles across multiple genres are to be featured.
These include past and present finalists, like A Highland Song, Cocoon, Darkest Dungeon, and Tchia, along with this year's winners like Venba, Mediterranea Inferno, Cryptmaster, and Once Upon a Jester, all of which are discounted as part of the event. Likewise, previous winners like Outer Wilds and Inscryption are participating in this celebration event, along with notable indie releases like Braid, Celeste, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, The Stanley Parable, and many more.
A few bundles featured as part of the IGF Celebration Days event, including Inscryption and This War Of Mine, and a few titles launching soon or currently in Early Access are available to add to their Wishlist. A bevy of demos for a handful of indie games during this event, like the multiplayer co-op game Flock, the puzzle adventure game Slider, and the action-adventure game Creatures of Ava from 11-bit Studios, the same team behind Indika and This War Of Mine.
