We're finally getting new skating game this summer

No, it's not another Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
We're finally getting new skating game this summer

If you were a gaming kid growing up in the era of PlayStation 1 and 2, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was undoubtedly at least somehow a part of that childhood. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was one of the most popular PlayStation 1 games and definitely left a significant mark on that era. Reasons were both because skating was very popular in the nineties and because the games themselves were really great at the time, with innovative and engaging gameplay, and of course - the best soundtrack of the era.

Unfortunately for skateboarding fans, last Tony Hawk's we saw was Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, which was released almost five years ago, back in December 2015. Sadly, the game was an utter disaster, with the average score of 35/100 on Metacritic. Graphics were inferior even to the games released on the PlayStation 2. The gameplay was terrible and boring, environments and missions simplistic and bland. Most importantly, the game was practically unplayable with numerous bugs.

Fear not, skating fans! We're finally getting a new skateboarding game! It's called Skater XL and developers are describing it as "smoothest, most responsive gameplay ever in a skateboarding game." A bit too pretentious if you ask us, but I guess time will tell.

Judging by what we can see in the trailer below, gameplay mechanics indeed look really smooth and polished, which is undoubtedly result of almost a year and a half period of Early Acces on Steam. And although gameplay looks nice, we can't really say the same for graphics, which looks a bit outdated, especially faces of people - they have that "death stare" vibe.

Speaking of faces, skating fans will recognize a few familiar names that are represented in the game. Game is officially coming out this July, for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch.
