Animals in space with rockets racing against each other on wacky tracks - that's Rocket Rumble!
Developed by PixelNAUTS Games, Rocket Rumble is an interesting blend of kart racing games and brawlers, where up to 4 players will race and fight against each other to become victorious.
At first glance, Rocket Rumble looks like a really fun party game, so let's take a closer look at its gameplay mechanics and features.
Rocket Rumble gameplay and features
The premise of this game is really simple, you and your friends (or other people online) choose one of the four currently available animals in rocket suits and race against each other on procedurally generated maps set on various sci-fi worlds.
When the game enters early access, it will have four characters available and three worlds (maps), but each race will have a procedurally generated map, so devs promise that each race will be unique.
"Robots & asteroids and Space Pirates, oh my! Race your way through a ton of different levels with a sci-fi twist," devs state."With item drops, boosters, ramps and hazards there's endless fun to discover! Procedurally generated tracks mean you'll never have the same race twice!"
Players will be able to play either online or with up to 4 players locally, which sounds like a perfect game to invite friends and have a fun weekend.
The game combines both racing and brawling with other players, so winning is not only a matter of being the fastest, but also the strongest and the smartest.
Just like in other kart games, items and power-ups will be scattered around the map for players to pick them up in use against other players (or boost themselves).
Devs say that Rocket Rumble is very accessible so that everyone can jump right in easily, but also leaves space for skilled players to show their expertness.
Finally, the game features a lot of customisation options for players to choose from and to make their favourite characters stand out. Without microtransactions, everything will be free and unlockable through playing.
Rocket Rumble early access, release date, and price
Rocket Rumble will enter early access on 3rd August 2021, and it will stay in EA for roughly a year before it is fully released.
Developers have plans to expand the roster of playable characters from 4 to 8 and to add six new worlds (track) so that the game eventually has 9 tracks in total.
Developers also plan to add countless new customisation options and to work with the community to improve current items and power-ups, as well as to add new ones.
While the price is not yet revealed, PixelNAUTS Games state that they will never raise the price once the game becomes available for purchase in early access.
