PowerWash Simulator Dev Announced End Of VR Support To Offer "Job Security" For VR Team Amidst High Costs

Developer FuturLab issued a statement on 13th January 2025 about the future of their casual simulation game, PowerWash Simulator, for the VR platform. PowerWash Simulator VR has been available via the Meta Store for more than a year since its release in November 2023, and the developer has announced that it will be ending support for the game's VR port.

The official statement was posted to the official PowerWash Simulator Twitter account, where they explained this decision. Furthermore, they also confirmed that while they won't be able to continue supporting it in the future, they're unable to continue with the game's support "right now."

According to the statement made by FuturLab CEO Kirsty Rigden, the developer won't be able to continue supporting PowerWash Simulator VR because the studio has to face several challenges with the VR platforms. Not only did providing support for PowerWash Simulator VR cost the studio a significant amount of money, "more than it makes," but the developer are also looking to fill out vacancies on other projects in development.

"We have been faced with a crossroads: we have a truly excellent and kind VR team who were working on a platform which costs us more than it makes, while also having a list of job openings that were looking to be filled on other projects. We took the decision to redeploy our VR team into those other projects/roles," the official statement read.

The statement continued with FuturLab CEO stating that while the team would love to continue supporting PowerWash Simulator on every platform, she added that she'll "always choose job security" for her team while knowing how disappointing this news will be for VR Washers; it's likely players would've made a similar decision. FuturLab teamed up with veteran developer and publisher nDreams on PowerWash Simulator VR, bringing the studio's VR expertise to creating the ultimate VR experience for Power Washers!
