Japanese publisher Nintendo revealed a new partnership with the globally renowned toy brand LEGO by announcing a new set. Based on one of Nintendo's most iconic IPs, this LEGO set brings one of its central figures to life in brick form.

Nintendo and LEGO's latest collaboration involves a new set based on the Great Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda games. The set, The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1, will go on sale on 1st September 2024, as it's currently available for pre-order.

According to the official statement, "The intricately designed 2-in-1 LEGO set is a brick-built recreation of the character, which can either be built as the Great Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or Breath of the Wild." Eiji Aonuma, producer for The Legend of Zelda franchise commented on this latest reveal, stating how "thrilled" on the partnership and that the Great Deku Tree "was the first element from The Legend of Zelda we wanted to represent using LEGO bricks."

Wes Talbott, a designer at LEGO, added that the audiences have been wanting a set based on this popular Nintendo IP, and they worked closely with them to produce a set on the Great Deku Tree. "As a fan of the franchise, it was great to work on this set and fill it with details and references from the games. I'm also glad we managed to offer the choice to build one of two versions to appeal to many Zelda fans."

This LEGO set features some of the most "iconic sceneries" from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, including Link's House and the Master Sword pedestal, which can be customized. The 2,500 pieces in the LEGO set can be used to build and customize these moments and scenes, which can also be "mounted on stands."

Furthermore, both Great Deku Tree builds come with unique features that can be interacted with, like the Ocarina of Time build, which includes a mechanism that opens the mouth to reveal the spider-like creature Skulltula. The Breath of the Wild version also has a mechanism that sees the tree perform some unique animated facial poses.

The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 LEGO Set will also come with four LEGO figurines: Ocarina of Time's Link and Princess Zelda and Link and Young Link from Breath of the Wild. They can also look forward to building other characters from these games, like Hestu the Korok, a Deku Sprout, Deku Babas, Navi the Fairy, and smaller Koroks.

The LEGO The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 Set will be available on the LEGO website starting 1st September 2024 at $299.99. As of May 28th, 2024, those who wish to reserve their set can pre-order it from the aforementioned LEGO website.
