While a sequel was inevitable, it’s now been officially confirmed a sequel to 2018’s God of War is in the pipeline for PlayStation 5.
Announced during Sony’s PS5 showcase, where we discovered the price and release date of the console, the presentation closed with a teaser for the sequel.
Showing the God of War lingo tinged in blue frost, a caption read: “Ragnarok is coming”.

Aside from releasing in 2021, little else was shown about the title - so it’s unclear where and when it’ll pick up the story following the first God of War.
Developed by Santa Monica Studios, the first God of War on PS4 is a rebirth of the original franchise which started out on the PlayStation 2 - becoming one of the most beloved games on the console.
God of War Ragnarok will release on PlayStation 5 in 2021.
