The upcoming Monumental Collab/CRITICAL REFLEX release 'Drowned Lake' promises to combine all the things fans love most about horror and fishing games, and combine them into a single title. It sounds like a bold premise, but this innovative title might just have the potential to "hook" players who are interested in both genres.
According to the game's Steam page, players will engage in "fishing, exploration, horror, investigations, and puzzle solving," all while bewaring the "Noise." Players will also get to take on the roles of multiple interesting individuals - an elderly fisherman, a journalist, and a firefighter - as they uncover the secrets surrounding a mystery that ties them all together.
Drowned Lake actually isn't the first game in the Drowned Lake series, though it will be the first available on Steam. Before it came Our Lady of the Drowned Lake, a prototype created for a game jam. The upcoming Drowned Lake will delve further into the stories started in Our Lady of the Drowned Lake. Monumental Collab has also released Teleforum, an analog horror style game with an average 9/10 score out of almost 1,500 reviews on Steam.
Drowned Lake has no release date announced quite yet, as it seems the game is still in early development. According to a PC Gamer article from November 2023, developers are "aiming for the second half of 2024." This means that Drowned Lake could be released on Steam sometime later this year, but those interested in the title will have to remain patient just a little longer.
