The surreal first-person, body-cam psychological horror game Dreamcore, by indie dev Montraluz and publisher Tlön Industries, is out now for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Dreamcore is loosely inspired by the "Backrooms," and gives players the chance to explore Backrooms-like, uncanny environments created in Unreal Engine 5.
“We want Dreamcore to transport players to somewhere uncanny and unsettling, that’s fantastical in design, yet contains just enough familiarity to evoke a recognizable place,” said Valentín Iribarren, Game Creator at Montraluz. “We’re excited to show the fruits of our labor, and will have even more worlds to show off post-launch, as Dreamcore delves into further realities in the months to come.”
At an $8.99 price point, the game offers tons to explore for now. There are three new levels scheduled for release in the future at roughly six month intervals; the game's price will increase accordingly, but players who grab the first chapter will get the future levels for free.
“Dreamcore contains some of the most atmospheric game worlds we’ve ever seen,” said Damian Hernaez, Development Director at Tlön Industries. “Liminal spaces have been having a moment in gaming, yet what Montraluz has crafted stands out as particularly eerie and wondrous. When we first laid eyes on Dreamcore we were instantly transported, and we’re eager to see everyone’s reactions to these strange realms.”
