PixelOpus, the developers behind Sony's Entwined and Concrete Genie, is closing its doors in May 2023, according to a Twitter post from the studio's official account.
"Dear friends, our PixelOpus adventure has come to an end," the Twitter post reads before thanking all of the players who have supported the studio's games. The team did not provide any further information about why the studio is closing down.
Pixelopus was founded in 2014 and had a 9-year run before its just-announced 2023 closure. The development team was comprised of around 12-19 employees.
The announcement that the studio is closing down comes after a collaboration between Pixelopus and Sony Pictures Animation was announced back in 2021 for the studio to work on an Untitled Game, which would be developed in Unreal Engine 5.
It seems that the collaboration between the studio and Sony will never see the light of day, and players are left wondering why the sudden closure is taking place. We'll be sure to update this article as soon as the studio provides any further information.
