Atelier Ryza 3 Release Date

You can start playing Atelier Ryza 3 on PC, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch starting 24th March 2023. Like Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout and Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy, there are no plans to bring this upcoming sequel to Xbox devices.

What Time Does Atelier Ryza 3 Release?

It would seem as though Atelier Ryza 3 will unlock at approximately 00:00 UTC on PC via Steam.

As for console players, no specific release time has been specified by Koei Tecmo, but we would imagine it will unlock at the same time as PC players.

Atelier Ryza 3 Story, Explained

Atelier Ryza 3's story picks up directly after the events of Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy. Ryza and her friends are comfortably living their lives on Kruken Island when the sudden appearance of mysterious groups of new islands threatens their home. 

Additionally, Ryza hears a mysterious voice in her head that tells her to seek something called the "Code of the Universe." Determined to figure out its whereabouts and save their home, Ryza, and her friends embark on one final adventure that takes them through dense forests, tropical islands, and large open fields.

Atelier Ryza 3 Gameplay, Explained

Atelier Ryza 3 features a battle system with a mix of real-time and turn-based combat. Ryza can fight alongside a party of four. You can issue them commands or control them directly in battle. Dealing damage will build up AP (Action Points), which will allow you to perform special attacks or abilities.
Exploration, crafting resources, and cooking are also essential parts of gameplay in Atelier Ryza 3. The Synthesis system lets you craft special items from the resources you gather in the wild. 

Keys are an integral part of the story and gameplay in the Atelier series. In combat, Ryza can use these special keys to empower characters and deal more damage. Outside combat keys can be used in the Synthesis system to craft unique and powerful items. While exploring, keys can open up pathways to secret locations.

Should you play Atelier Ryza 1 & 2 before Atelier Ryza 3?

While you can play Atelier Ryza 3 without playing Atelier Ryza 1 and 2, we recommend not doing so, as you will miss out on some of the character developments and world-building that happen up until the events of the third game. 

That said, outside of Ryza's story arc and returning characters, expect this to be a standalone tale for the most part, meaning you shouldn't have much trouble understanding the overall story and the gameplay mechanics if you skip the past two games. However, since the story picks up after the events of Atelier Ryza 2, expect to do a bit of catching up if you plan to directly venture into the third entry.
