Last December, Sony announced a "new live studio event," PlayStation Tournaments: XP, which sees some of the top competitive players from around the world "compete at a regional and global level." The first edition of this live studio and in-person event was held in London, United Kingdom, and was livestreamed on the official PlayStation Twitch and YouTube channels on 18th January 2025.

Teams competing in the PlayStation Tournaments: XP were volleying for points or XP across four featured games, Tekken 8, Fortnite, EA Sports FC 25, and Astro Bot, which the latter game showed off something new to fans of the award-winning platform game. This new speedrunning stage caught players' attention as speculations have begun online about when this new stage will arrive to the platform game as developer Team Asobi has yet to comment on its appearance.

Astro Bot was the final game at the PlayStation Tournaments: XP in London on 18th January 2025, which saw players from Team Circle and Square go head-to-head on a speedrun stage that's unavailable in-game. This new stage saw competing players attempting to get the fastest "clear time" on this stage for their respective team to secure the overall victory in the final match, which Team Circle won.

The speedrun stage featured Astro utilizing a slow-motion (slow-mo) ability to stop time to traverse over obstacles and a floral-themed umbrella gadget to help the lil bot glide across platforms. This stage also adds plenty of enemies that proved to make Astro's time throughout the stage more challenging, especially when factoring in the slow-mo ability and the umbrella gadget.

Based on the play-by-play action from the commentary team, there's no clear indication if this speedrun stage will be coming to Astro Bot, but its appearance has certainly interested fellow speedrunners. As such, we'll provide updates surrounding this speedrun stage and its possible addition to Astro Bot once more information becomes available or is being made public by the developer and PlayStation.
