Final Fantasy's Sephiroth is the next DLC character confirmed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Announced during The Game Awards 2020, this is the third DLC character from Fighters Pass 2 following Minecraft’s Steve and Min Min from ARMS.
If you're unfamiliar, Sephiroth is the main antagonist in Final Fantasy VII - with the trailer highlighting his history with Cloud.
The character was also given a release window of December 2020, with creator Masahiro Sakurai set to debut the character's moveset on 17th December at 2pm PST/10pm GMT.
This is also the second time a DLC character for Smash Ultimate has been unveiled at The Game Awards, after Persona 5’s Joker was given a surprise reveal back in 2018.
Three more DLC characters are set to be released before the end of next year.
This announcement also follows criticism against Nintendo and their trigger-happy cease and desist orders, with the company shutting down a charity fundraiser and Melee tournaments over legal issues.
