As James journeys throughout the streets of Silent Hill 2, he'll eventually need to enter the Woodside Apartments to progress. But, getting inside requires a few steps, since once you get there, you'll notice the door is locked. Here's how to get the Woodside Apartments key so you can go into the apartments as James.
How To Get Into Woodside Apartments
To get the Woodside Apartments key, you’ll need to look on the ground next to the blue-green car. This location will be marked on your map after you pick up the memo mentioning it from the back of Neely's Bar. If you haven't opened up the door to the back room of Neely's Bar quite yet, you'll first need to do so by solving the vinyl puzzle before finding the memo.
Once you reach the blue green car with the license plate ending in '06' - just as the memo notes - James will pick up the key to the Woodside Apartments and add it to his inventory. It's on the ground amongst some strange goo.
Once you’ve got the key to the Woodside Apartments, some Mannequins will immediately spawn, so be prepared to either run or fight (we'd suggest the former). The dumpsters that were on your left blocking the path will also move to the side. You'll then be able to run down a tight alleyway which will lead you out into another street.
From here, the wind will have picked up, and many more enemies will have spawned in the streets. Run past them, since there are too many to kill. Take a left and run towards Woodside Apartments, checking your map if necessary, since it's difficult to see past the thick fog.
Once you reach the Woodside Apartments, just use the Woodside Apartments key from your inventory on the door. This will open up the area and allow you to access it. After walking inside, you'll find a save point inside the Reception of Woodside Apartments.
