RLCS Season X Spring Split: schedule, format, prize pool and more

The third and final split of RLCS X is right around the corner. Here’s everything you need to know before kick-off!
RLCS Season X Spring Split: schedule, format, prize pool and more

The Rocket League Championship Series X is reaching its final stage. Psyonix has announced the Spring Split, the third and final Split that has made up Season X, which kicked off back in September of 2020.

Each split has comprised of three Regional events and one Major tournament in which a prize pool is divided and RLCS Points are given out depending on your placement.

The more points you amount, the more likely it is you reach the RLCS X World Championship scheduled for June-July. Only 16 teams all around the globe will be making it to the LAN event.

These are exciting times to be a Rocket League Esports fan and with three more Regionals, one more Major and plenty of RLCS points to give out, here's everything you need to know about the RLCS Season X Spring Split.

RLCS X Spring Split format

The RLCS X Spring Split will hold a 20-team tournament for each Regional with the following format:

  • Each Regional Event lasts four days
  • Teams are split into four groups of five teams
  • Days 0 and 1 are single Round-Robin play (every team will play against each other once)
  • Teams that place 5th in their group are eliminated
  • On Day 2, the 16 remaining teams are seeded into the Knockout Gauntlet
  • Seeds 1 and 2 are placed into the Upper Bracket while seeds 3 and 4 are placed into the Lower Bracket
  • The eight teams that survive qualify for the final single-elimination bracket on Day 3
  • Winner of the single-elimination bracket wins the Regional Event

As for the Majors, they will have the same format but with a 10-team tournament (the nine top points earners and one wildcard from RLCS: The Grid), eliminating the Knockout Gauntlet because of participant reduction.

  • Each Major Tournament lasts two days
  • Teams are split into two groups of five teams
  • Day 1 is a single Round-Robin play (every team will play against each other once)
  • Teams that place 5th in their group are eliminated
  • On Day 2, the eight teams that survive qualify for the final single-elimination bracket
  • Winner of the single-elimination bracket wins the Major Tournament

RLCS X Spring Split: The Grid

The RLCS X Spring Split will also alter The Grid format to the following:

  • The Grid is now a 16-team, single Round-Robin, “League Play” format
  • Each team will play three matches each day, over the course of five days
  • The top six teams from League Play will advance to The Grid Playoffs
  • The Grid Playoffs are a Page Playoff Bracket (similar to the Seasons 7-9 Regional Championship format) played out on a single day

This League Play format will ensure players get rewarded for consistency as well as make it easier for streams to have a cleaner, more structured schedule for fans to follow.

RLCS X Spring Split: how to watch

The RLCS X Spring Split will be streamed live on Rocket League official YouTube and Twitch channels.

Because of the number of matches to be played due to the Round-Robin format, Day 0 (which consists of the first three rounds of Round-Robin) will be streamed by the teams themselves.

Day 1 will move the stream to the official Rocket League channels finishing the last two rounds of Round-Robin and continuing the tournament from there.

The Grid: Overtime show will still be hosted by Rocket League, The Grid itself will be streaming over at each team’s Twitch account with their own set of graphics, casters and more.

And that’s about it! There’s a ton of professional Rocket League to look forward to as we speed to the promised land -- the RLCS X World Championship.
