Is Fisch Dying?

In this guide, I answer the question of whether or not Fisch is dying on Roblox.

Is Fisch a dead game? Good question. This ultra-popular fishing and exploration simulator on Roblox has seen meteoric growth since its release last year, attracting over 2.4 billion visits as of March 2025. However, recent discussions have raised one burning question: Is Fisch dying— or is it simply evolving under pressure from its own success and controversial updates?

Is Fisch A Dead Game? | Roblox

No, Fisch is far from a dead game. Since its launch, Fisch has amassed over 2.4 billion visits. While concurrent player counts have dipped from their late 2024 peak of 500,000+ players to a more stable 150,000 daily, this does not indicate the game is dead.

The reason is simple: Roblox games naturally experience a surge at launch, followed by a decline as they reach equilibrium. Beyond the numbers, Fisch remains highly active in content updates, with major patches like the Mariana’s Veil and Atlantis updates keeping players engaged.

In addition, there have been discussions on social media, with both positive and negative takes on the game’s direction. While there has been controversy about pay-to-win (P2W) features, the core gameplay loop remains intact, and many players still enjoy the experience. So, no—Fisch is far from being dead.

Maybe. While Fisch is far from abandoned, growing frustrations over monetization practices threaten its long-term health. The game’s partnership with Do Big Studios (the same development studio as Blade Ball) has led to a noticeable shift in its business model, with which many players don't agree.

To be more specific, the introduction of luck-based fishing mechanics, monetized convenience items like Glimmersuit Boots, and exclusive Robux bundles has fueled backlash.

However, one of the biggest red flags is the problem-solution cycle, where the developers introduce a gameplay inconvenience, then sell a paid solution. For instance, many players complained about long trekking times exploring Mariana's Veil—and shortly after, Glimmersuit Boots appeared in the store to “solve” the issue.

Likewise, new Secret Fish have drop rates so low that boosting items (often locked behind Robux) feel almost necessary to remain competitive. While Fisch still retains a strong player base, the perception of unfair monetization risks alienating its free-to-play audience.

However, Fisch is not beyond saving. If the developers adjust their approach by balancing monetization without making progression feel artificially difficult, the game can maintain its success. Fisch is not dying yet, but it is at a critical turning point, and how the developers handle this backlash will determine its future.
