After the success of the original Resident Evil's re-release and the original RE2 and RE3 coming soon, GOG says they'd love to get their hands on some more Capcom classics. In an interview with Time Extension, GOG's senior business development manager, Marcin Paczyński, said that "with the release of Resident Evil, we worked very closely with Capcom, and our relationship definitely grew in the process."
Paczyński added that the team will "do their best to bring even more Capcom classics to the table."
GOG's re-release of the original Resident Evil title features the game exactly as it was originally, with some quality of life improvements and modern system compatibility thrown in. "Our version of the game keeps all the original content intact – 1996's description is no exception," GOG promises on the game's official page. Many fans were happy with the game's accuracy to the original, earning it 4.5/5 stars on GOG.
Nothing is confirmed, but there are quite a few games that we could see coming to GOG. The Street Fighter series would be a great addition to the platform, giving players a way to access the original game without playing modernized versions. It'd also be great to see similar titles, like Marvel vs. Capcom, in their original glory.
Given that it seems that Capcom and GOG have started to establish a pretty strong relationship and GOG has even expressed interest in re-releasing more of their games, fans can only hope that more Capcom classics are on the way. Meanwhile, it also seems pretty likely that RE0 and Code Veronica remakes might be coming soon, too.
