In what will be the last major update of this year, the team behind Rainbow Six: Siege has revealed much of what players can expect in the Y6S4 aka High Calibre update.
Alongside the usual quality-of-life and balance changes, there is, of course, also the game's newest Operator, which we have now learned is named Thorn.
This defender boasts a brand new SMG, the UZK50GI, and a trap gadget referred to as the Razerbloom Shell. Essentially a proximity mine, unsuspecting players who get caught in its radius will have to make a quick decision; either push forward, destroy it, or fall back.
As well as the introduction of Thorn, there is also a buff coming to Finka and nerfs to Valkyrie, Echo and Mozzie. Unfortunately, the long-awaited rework to Goyo has been postponed as the developers now state they will have to reanimate the character, meaning a change that was promised at the outset of Year 6 isn't going to come until at least Y7S1.
As you can see, there is a lot coming with Y6S5 and we have only really scratched the surface. If you want to know everything about the update, keep on reading.
When will Y6S4 High Calibre come out?
An exact release date for Y6S4 has not yet been revealed though it is very likely to come out in the first two weeks of December.
With the update going out to the test server first, then back for any reworks or fixes, before finally being available to all.
Thorn
Thorn is an Irish defender who looks to shake up the meta with her sticky proximity grenades, called Razerbloom Shells.
She also boasts a brand new SMG, the UZK50GI, which while having a slow fire rate possesses a mighty punch with its.50 calibre ammunition.
She also has a shield and barbwire and should prove a nuisance as a defender whose intention is to slow down attackers as much as possible.
