Pokémon GO World Championship events pushed the Bug-types out of the spotlight from last week, and now another version of Nidoran is on the way. For the fourth time this month, the Spotlight Hour will return as always; this time, male Nidoran is the main feature.
Each week, the most exciting aspect of the hour-long event is the chance of a shiny Pokémon. Unlike other Pokémon games, every shiny form isn't immediately available in GO. They typically get introduced through large events or Community Days. Our guide will outline male Nidoran specifically for the upcoming spotlight.
August Spotlight Hour - Can Male Nidoran Be Shiny?
This week's Spotlight Hour for male Nidoran will begin on August 23 at 6 pm local time. If you're hunting for shinies, you're in luck this week because male Nidoran can certainly be shiny in Pokémon GO. You'll know you've found the shiny you want if the male version of Nido shows up as a light blue.
Both versions of Nidoran will appear as the opposite color when you find a shiny. Just like this week, the female form was available in an opposite color for the second Spotlight Hour in August. For future reference, every Kanto region Pokémon in GO has a shiny form at this point in time.

Every Pokémon from the Kanto region or the Johto region has a shiny form that can be caught in the wild. Both regions had Tour events that ensured the whole roster was available. Every other region has Pokémon that are missing an alternate color, so it still helps to double-check.
When the male Nidoran spotlight goes live, you won't be guaranteed a shiny form. Unlike the Community Day events in the game, there are no increased odds for a rare catch. You'll only have one hour to get the Nidoran that you want, but that doesn't mean you can't increase those odds.
When the Nidoran Spotlight Hour begins, make sure to have an Incense Lure active as you walk. If you can manage to get a Lure Module as well, plant one at a PokéStop and utilize the infinite spawns for the time being. With any luck, you'll get the light blue version of the male Nidoran for your own collection.
Next week, the spotlight will center on Pidove as August and the Season of GO come to a close. Soon enough, the next month of hours will be revealed.
