Palia Funeral Potatoes Friendship Quest And Walkthrough

Palians can continue exploring the backstories of their favorite Villagers in Kilima Village and Bahari Bay in the 0.180 patch update. This update added a few more Friendship quests to complete, which they must meet the prerequisites to unlock, like Hekla's Funeral Potatoes quest.

Continuing from the previous friendship quest, For the Record, they learn of the Human, Sona, whom Hekla was intended to care for before their passing, and as such, Hekla has to deal with her emotions of outliving Jina. This quest will provide them with the objectives and how they can complete Hekla's Funeral Potatoes Friendship quest in Palia.

Palia Funeral Potatoes Friendship Quest Objectives List

Palia's v0.180 patch update brought a bounty of new content to explore, balance changes and adjustments made, and new bug fixes identified for subsequent updates. Regarding the new content that arrived, more Villagers received a new Friendship quest for Palians to continue exploring their backstories.

Hekla, Jina's Galdur ward, is one of the multiple Villagers to receive a Friendship quest, aptly named Funeral Potatoes, which unlocks at Friendship Level 5. After Palians learn about the Human Hekla was assigned to care for in the For the Record quest, they must explain the situation to Jina to comfort Hekla in her time of need.

As such, we've provided the objectives Palians are to follow and complete for the  Funeral Potatoes Friendship quest in Palia:

• Talk to Hekla on your plot
• Explain the situation to Jina
• Search the Ancient Library for information
  • Tell Jina what you found
• Invite Hekla to the funeral
• Bring the following items to Jina in the Temple of the Flames:
  • Fabric x1
  • Silk x5
  • Silver Ore x2
• Check-in with Hekla inside the Temple of the Flames

How To Complete The Funeral Potatoes Friendship Quest In Palia?

Once they've reached Friendship Level 5 with Hekla, Jina will arrive at their Housing Plot and discuss that Hekla's behavior has been quite "clingy" lately. As Jina explains from her perspective, she reveals that while she has expressed this to Hekla, who refuses to listen, she suggests that perhaps Hekla will listen to The Player.

They'll receive Hekla's Friendship Level 5 quest, Funeral Potatoes, before Jina leaves, in which Hekla will visit the Housing Plot looking for Jina. They can explain to them how Jina has been concerned lately or reveal Jina's comments that Hekla has been "clingy' towards her, for which Hekla mentions the concept of "expiration."

As Hekla explains how "expiration" is a new concept they have to grasp after being woken up by Jina, since Galdurs can "live forever," this is not the same for Humans. This is causing much distress for Hekla, who has to come to terms with the fact that Jina may "expire" at some point; they'll have to help Hekla with the protocols of the Ancient Human rite of mourning.

Before they find this information for Hekla, they must locate Jina in Kilima Village and explain the situation to her regarding Hekla. Jina can be found at a few locations depending on the time of the day, as the Mirror Pond Ruins, Night Sky Temple, and Kilima Village Library are the best spots to find her.

Once they've explained everything to Jina, she'll discuss how her grandmother's passing affected her, for whom her father arranged a funeral. This gives her the idea of organizing one for the Human, Sona, Hekla had lost, but they will require information on Ancient Human funerary rites, which they can get at the Ancient Library at the Mirror Pond Ruins.

Head inside the Ancient Library and sprint down the corridor until they enter the main chamber. When facing the small pond, look at the bookshelf slightly to the right where resting on top of the bookshelf is a tome on Ancient Human funerary rites to read before reporting to Jina.

As they inform Jina of their discovery, they'll reveal that the Ancient Humans cremated the dead in Pyroflow, where they discovered a source inside the Temple of the Flames. They must locate Hekla next and explain that they'll be arranging a funeral for Sona inside the Temple of the Flames, for which they'll reveal they've expressed their distress to Einar, who they wish to invite too.

Palians are now tasked with obtaining a few items to bring with them to the Temple of the Flames, namely Fabric, Silk, and Silver Ore. Fabric is typically a by-product of placing Cotton into the Fabric Loom. The same is said for Silk, processed from Silk Threads obtained from specific bugs, such as the Azure Stonehopper, Bahari Glowbug, Firebreathing Dragonfly, Scintillating Centipede, and Vampire Crab.

Fabric and Silk can also be purchased from Tish's Furniture Store for 190 Gold and 900 Gold, respectively. Silver Ore is obtained through mining Copper Ore nodes found throughout Kilima Village, which, once all items have been obtained, can head to the Temple of the Flames.

As for where they can be found, upon entering the temple, they make their way down the stairs, passing by the first temple puzzle before entering the temple foyer. They must completely wrap around the foyer to reach the backside of the temple, where the door entrance to a Mysterious Chamber can be located.

Head inside this chamber, sprinting towards the Phoenix Statue near the end of the corridor where they can deploy their Glider or remember the A Catalyzing Caper quest and walk across to the other side to meet the party near the Kitsuu puzzle before speaking to Jina.

They must hand over the "supplies" to Jina before she begins the Ancient Human funerary rites while delivering the parting words. Once completed, they can speak with Hekla again; Hekla expresses that the funeral gave her much comfort while exploiting the "gaps" within her knowledge.

This recent event has further expanded her duties as Jina's ward as she wishes to learn more about ancient human culture, and as such, she establishes that her Oneness was to become Jina's research partner, which completes the Funeral Potatoes Friendship quest. Palians will receive 35 Renown, three Loaded Potato Soup dishes, and an Ancient Human Airship furnishing item.
