Overwatch fans have been dealing with a content drought for well over two years at this point, with the game abandoned, receiving no new competitive maps or heroes since early 2020.
Delays to Overwatch 2 and internal struggles inside Blizzard Entertainment have made the wait for a sequel announced back in 2019 all that more egregious. Fortunately, the light at the end of this development hell can be seen.
With a beta on the horizon, confirmation that the Overwatch League would be played on an Overwatch 2 build, fans of the franchise are hopeful the FPS can return to form by the end of the year.
As for Overwatch 1, while no new proper content is being put up, with development shifting to the sequel, Blizzard revealed the Anniversary Remix series of events, beginning with Vol 1.
Overwatch Anniversary Remix Vol 1 - Schedule
In a blog post, Blizzard explained that the Anniversary Remix events will let players experience old fan-favourite modes and earn cosmetics available during festivities such as Archives, Summer Games, and Anniversary.
Anniversary Remix Vol 1 is scheduled to begin on 5th April, ending on the 25h, a day before the Overwatch 2 closed beta kicks off.
Overwatch Anniversary Remix Vol 1 - Skins
What makes this event interesting is that plenty of old skins will be unlocked for players to purchase, as well as new "remixed" versions of iconic Legendary skins.
Each Vol will feature six remixed Legendary skins, for a total of 18 once it's all said and done. Furthermore, each Vol will mark the return of three limited-edition skins.

These latter cosmetics can't be purchased and will be available by completing weekly challenges. If you missed out on them the first time, now's the perfect time to snag them.

There are some incredible-looking skins with this first batch, but many players will be waiting for new remixed versions of popular looks like the Kendoka Genji or Poolside Ashe. Expect to see the second round of remixed versions shortly after, as the release of Overwatch 2 is nearing closer.
