Fans criticize Blizzard for adding new skins for numerous heroes, except Ramattra and Venture, who would have been perfectly suited for Overwatch 2's Season 12 theme.

Overwatch 2 Season 12 has just been announced, bringing plenty of exciting content, including the arrival of a new hero named Juno, fresh game modes, and, of course, new rare skins to collect. The highlight is a Mythic skin for Reaper called Anubis, themed after Egyptian mythology, which aligns with the season's overall Egyptian theme.

However, this decision has left fans puzzled, as characters like Ramattra and Venture, who have close ties to the Egyptian theme, haven't received any skins. This has sparked discussion among the community, and we'll explore all the details below.

Overwatch 2 Fans Disappointed as Ramattra and Venture Receive No Skins in Season 12

As we detailed in our Season 12 breakdown, Overwatch 2 is set to introduce a new Mythic skin for Reaper, themed around Anubis, alongside Battle Pass skins for Illari, Sigma, Ashe, Ana, and Doomfist. Additionally, two new Mercy skins and one for Kiriko will be available. While this is an impressive lineup, it has left many fans frustrated, as some heroes have been waiting months for new skins.

One Reddit user voiced this sentiment, saying, “So many other heroes have so few skins, but they keep giving more to Mercy and Kiriko.” Another user pointed out that Mercy's new Marilyn Monroe skin was a leftover from the Formalwear skins released during Christmas. This situation has particularly upset fans because while Mercy is receiving recycled skins, heroes like Ramattra and Venture, who perfectly fit this season’s Egyptian theme, have been overlooked.

In another Reddit post, a fan expressed their disappointment, noting how excited they were for Ramattra or Venture to receive skins, given that it was “the perfect theme for both,” only to find neither included. Ramattra, according to Overwatch 2 lore, has strong ties to the Egyptian god Anubis, his 'creator,' making his exclusion even more baffling.

Fans upset as Ramattra And Venture Skins Would Have been perfect for Season 12

As one fan put it, "Having nothing for Ramattra in an Egyptian-themed season when his concept was [literally] Anubis is criminal," while another added, "I'm convinced Blizzard has something personal against Ramattra." Similarly, Venture, whose character revolves around archaeology and a love for ancient Egyptian mythology, was also left out.

Venture mains are feeling particularly neglected, with one fan stating they are "rotting away" due to the lack of skins. Despite three seasons passing since Venture's release, not a single Legendary skin has been made available. With both Ramattra and Venture being ignored in terms of skins, fans are left wondering why Mercy and Kiriko always seem to take precedence.

Blizzard Approach to KSins
Ultimately, Blizzard will prioritize creating skins for the more popular characters, as it guarantees higher sales, but we hope they reconsider this approach soon. (Picture: Blizzard)

The answer, as it often is, seems to boil down to money. Some players have pointed out that Mercy skins are a significant revenue driver for Overwatch 2, helping to keep the game free-to-play. While this reality is disappointing, it’s understandable; players are more likely to spend money on characters they love, such as Mercy, D.Va, Kiriko, and Reaper, rather than on those with smaller fanbases like Ramattra and Venture.

In the end, we hope Blizzard listens to the community's pleas (I count myself among them, as Ramattra is my favorite tank) and eventually gives these heroes the skins they deserve, even if it happens mid-Season 12 or later. We just want to see more skins distributed fairly across all characters, but we'll have to wait and see if Blizzard shares that sentiment.
