Amazon's promising MMO 'New World' is finally available after thousands of players were able to experiment with some of its features in recent months, as part of its successful beta periods.
As in other games of this genre, an important aspect to take into account is the development of your character to create, from their class, weapons, and abilities, to how long it will take to reach the maximum level with this to be able to exploit its potential by full.
So, if you are one of many just starting your adventure in this new world (pun intended), or just want some tips to level up faster, here we will show you everything you need to know about the level system in New World.
New World’s current level cap
Currently, New World’s level cap is sitting at level 60, a fairly high challenge to achieve even for those who are used to grinding XP and quests as a routine.
Getting to this level isn’t something unusual, as some players in titles such as Genshin Impact have also reached this point. Besides, during its development Amazon tweaked its levelling system a lot, giving players more ways to get XP around Aeternum.
But, even if you're already used to a farming routine, reaching this level will take 60-100 hours of gameplay, with less experienced players spending up to 200+ hours looking for mechanics to level up faster.
Once you reach the max level in New World, a whole new window of end-game content will be available for you to complete, including:
- Access to expeditions, in which you will team up with other players to fight your way through dangerous dungeons, final bosses, and tons of treasures.
- Access to invasions in areas where the corrupted attack the game world and the fortresses, in huge PvE events.
- Unlocking the PvP mode “Outpost Rush”, where you have to defend your outpost against other players at the same time and have to take their outpost from them.
- Access to PvP wars in instantiated areas.
How to level up faster in New World
As reaching level 60 will be quite a headache at first, we recommend creating a routine that allows you to earn XP while enjoying many of the things the game has to offer.
For us, the best ways to gain XP are as follows:
Complete Town Missions
The Town Missions can be chosen from the Town Project Boards, and players can do up to 12 at the same time. Since there are lots of these available, and most of them are quite easy to complete, you can get a lot of XP faster.
As always, focus most on those that give you more XP, or those that can be done in the blink of an eye.
Rest in a settlement for an XP bonus
One of the things you will learn once you are in New World is that settlements are very useful, with an XP bonus being among one of its best benefits.
For instance, if for some reason you haven’t connected to play in quite some time, the first time you log in you will receive instantly the Well Rested effect, which allows you to gain some extra XP for any tasks you complete until it expires.
You can see this both as a comeback gift and also as a chance to grind as hard as possible while it lasts.
Increase your standing around territories
While Town Missions are a great way to earn XP, this can be improved by increasing your standing around any of the territories available in the game.
Doing this will not only give you more XP on the Town Projects you complete, but also on the side quests, faction missions, and everything else you can gain XP within New World.
Complete quests as fast as possible
Speaking of these, finishing all main, side, and faction quests available in the game will give a big boost at least on your first levels, while also helping you discover some of New World’s best areas to grind and farm.
This will also allow you to get more materials to craft weapons in your adventure, giving you more XP and skills as you move forward in your journey.
Hit enemies being fought by other players
This suggestion can be quite dirty since everyone else is doing their job against a big threat, but since neither of the players will lose XP or rewards, giving a hit or two towards a high-level enemy will be good to grind without having to risk your life.
Find and use fast travel shrines
As for most of the game’s quests, you will have to travel around the map a lot, spending some time to find all of the fast travel shrines available will let you move faster from one point to another if you have a quest waiting close to them.
You can also choose to own a home from a different town you are signed up, to get more options to fast travel.
And that’s all we have to share with you about New World’s levelling system. Hope this intel will let you enjoy your adventure at its fullest, and see you in Aeternum.
