A Marvel's Spider-Man 2 SDCC panel has revealed a brand-new story trailer that sheds some light on the upcoming sequel, along with a new limited-edition PS5 and DualSense controller.
The new story trailer shows off what to expect from the game, with Harry Osborn making his first appearance in the series outside of various voice messages and his comatose appearance in a tank during the post-credit scene to the first game in the series. The trailer seemingly hints at Venom himself actually being Harry, with both of the characters saying at various points in the trailer "We're going to heal the world".
Curiously, if you're a fan of Spider-Man comics then you'll know that the version of the symbiote featured in Ultimate Spider-Man is a man-made symbiote that was created as a medical tool to heal any diseases that people may have had, including cancer. This symbiote was later taken by the military and an attempt was made to turn it into a weapon, which backfired and created the Venom symbiote itself. It seems that Insomniac is merging two separate versions of the symbiote's mythology, taking both the more medical and healing-focused background of the Ultimate Venom story and the original story of an Alien that somehow finds its way to Earth, scared and alone.
The trailer also features new designs for both Miles Morales and Mary Jane, suggesting that a lot has changed in the time between this game and the first installment in the series, or between Spider-Man: Miles Morales and this installment.
In terms of the new PS5 design, Insomniac Games and Sony revealed a console coated in the symbiote, with the goo starting to take over the red side plates of the PS5. The controller itself is of a similar design, with the symbiote crawling across the DualSense design and taking over the red of the Spider-Man suit. The bundle will also come with a digital copy of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 since the console itself is a digital PS5.
