Spider-Man 2 dips its toes deep into the Marvel lore and pulls out a plethora of iconic villains that you may or may not be familiar with. Some of these villains are on their redemption arc, having appeared in the first game as well as the Miles Morales spin-off, while others are new to the Insomniac series.
Whether it's through main missions, side quests, or random encounters when exploring the open world, there's no shortage of villains to encounter in this latest entry. In this guide, we list out all the villains you can come across in Spider-Man 2.
Every Villian In Spider-Man 2
Warning: Minor story spoilers ahead
Sandman
Sandman is the first villain you encounter in Spider-Man 2. He appears only briefly in the game's opening moments, in what is arguably one of the best set pieces in the game. After that, you can find these Marko Crystals scattered all over the city that contain memories of the man himself and reveal more about what happened to him leading up to the game's events.
Scorpion
Scorpion was a menace in Spider-Man 1, and while he appears only briefly in the sequel, the encounter is quite memorable. Revealing anything would be like opening a door full of spoilers, so we're just going to leave it at that.
Mr. Negative
Mr. Negative, aka Martin Li, was one of the main villains in the first game, and while he's mostly on the sidelines in Spider-Man 2, he still has an important role to play in the main story.
Lizard
Dr. Connors is back in Spider-Man 2 and, despite his best efforts, his alter ego the Lizard, is also back with him. There are some cool, if a little spooky, encounters with the Lizard in Spider-Man 2 that we don't want to spoil.
Kraven
Kravinoff, aka Kraven, is one of the two main villains in Spider-Man 2. He comes to NYC looking for a formidable prey for his final hunt. As soon as he appears, he starts abducting all the supervillains of the city to slaughter them. Revealing anything more would be diving into major spoiler territory, but we do want to add that Kraven is a solid antagonist with plenty of memorable encounters throughout the game.
Black Cat
Black Cat, aka Felicia, aka Peter-Parker's ex, is also in Kraven's hitlist of supervillains and appears in one mission in Spider-Man 2. Surprisingly, you play this as Miles instead of Peter, but it's an incredible mission with a lot of chase sequences, combat, and puzzle-solving.
Venom
Venom needs no introduction, especially if you've been following all the trailers and promos for Spider-Man 2. Harry Osborn is the Venom, and the game does an incredible job of building up his character until he becomes the Venom. Like Kraven, he's one of the main villains in the game, though he appears pretty late in the story.
Warning: Major story spoilers from this point onwards
Scream
Scream, a symbiote spawn of Venom, has a surprising cameo in Spider-Man 2. What's even more surprising is the person who takes the role of Scream in the game. We don't want to spoil who that character is, but we do want to add that the boss fight is pretty great.
Carnage/Flame
While exploring the open world, you may come across a group of Flame cultists who keep mentioning something called the "Crimson Hour." Later on, you get access to these Flame missions, at the end of which their leader gets hold of a sample of the Venom symbiote and mentions something about Carnage. While Carnage doesn't exactly make an appearance, the game does set him up as a villain in a possible sequel.
Wraith
Yuri Watanabe, the former captain of the NYPD, returns in Spider-Man 2 as her alter-ego villain Wraith. Peter teams with his old ally to track and hunt down the flame cultists, but things aren't exactly alright between the two.
That's all the villains we have encountered so far in Spider-Man 2.
