Marvel Snap developer Second Dinner finally put to rest all the datamined information for September 2024's season to rest when they unveiled The Amazing Spider season. The season takes inspiration from Spidey's iconic comic book series by bringing some of its prominent characters to the card battler game, starting with the Symbiote Spider-Man.

Peter Parker's iconic black-colored suit made its comic book debut in this series; however, it was only confirmed to be a symbiote in later issues and has since crossed over into other media forms. This web-slinging guide details everything about the Symbiotic Spider-Man, including explaining its unique card ability, highlighting key synergies, and outlining a few decks to include this card at release for Marvel Snap.

Marvel Snap Symbiote Spider-Man Card Abilities Explained

Marvel Snap will be showcasing the colorful and amazing characters of the Spider-Verse in its upcoming season for Marvel Snap. This September, the season adds five unique cards as part of The Amazing Spider-Season, which includes its featured season card, the Symbiote Spider-Man.

This symbiotic relationship between this "extraterrestrial parasitic life form" and the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man resulted in this variation of web-slinger, which first debuted in The Amazing Spider-Man #258 issue, realizing the black-colored costume to be a living being. The Symbiote Spider-Man has had multiple appearances over the decades in Marvel Comics, but also in television and film media, and now it's coming to Marvel Snap as one of the latest card drops.

At launch, the Symbiote Spider-Man will be released as a four-Power and six-Cost card with an extremely unique card ability. What makes Symbiote Spider-Man's release so special is that it's the first officially released card with the new card mechanic, Activate, which, for this card, will merge with the lowest Cost card and copy its text "like it just revealed" when activated.

As for how Snappers can get their hands on this symbiote card, we've mentioned it will be the featured card as it will be available as the Season Pass reward. There will be a variant Symbiote Spider-Man card to claim at Level 50 for Snappers who purchased the Season Pass through the Marvel Snap web store or through the Token Shop, which will likely appear as a weekly card drop for the next season.

Best Marvel Snap Symbiote Spider-Man Decks: Symbiotic Destroy

As the new season of Marvel Snap features characters who've appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man comic series and its spin-offs, the Symbiote Spdier-Man is perhaps one of the more prolific characters to have been featured. With the ability to merge with the lowest Cost card at a location when activated, the Symbiote Spider-Man has found a home (not a host) within the Destroy deck archetype.

Incorporating some of the cards featured heavily in the Deadpool Destroy decks over the last few months, this deck from Marvel Snap content creator PulseGlazer places Symbiote Spider-Man upfront and center. There are a handful of low-Cost cards that Symbiote Spider-Man could merge with, including Nico Minoru, X-23, Carnage, Wolverine, and probably the best candidate being Deadpool.

Deadpool is one of Symbiote Spider-Man's best card synergies, as the card itself doubles its power when destroyed by Carnage, Killmonger, Venom, or Deathlok. With the card's Activate ability in mind, it's more than likely that its power will merge with Deadpool's current Power at the time of being played, but watch out for Shang-Chi if this is the case.

Best Marvel Snap Symbiote Spider-Man Decks: Dark Warhead

Another one of Symbiote Spider-Man's best card synergies are cards with common abilities, making it much harder for opponents to counter with Red Guardian, Rogue, Cosmo, and Enchantress. One card that could wreak havoc in potential match-ups is Negasonic Teenage Warhead, whose ability may be reset after it was triggered if Symbiote Spider-Man merges with the card once it's on the board and activated.

This deck from Marvel Snap content creator Docty sees a few unique card synergies included for different win conditions to be met like Korg and Rockslide to power Darkhawk which the latter is a great counter to Arishem, Angela, Thena, and Kitty Pryde for early location priority, and Negasonic and Shang-Chi to target any potential counters their opponent may use. Cassandra Nova is an interesting inclusion as another noted Arishem counter, much like Darkhawk, by stealing power from cards in the opponent's deck, which is also a great candidate for Symbiote Spider-Man.

This is where Symbiote Spider-Man could be prioritized as they can merge it with either Negasonic or Shang-Chi if alone in a location; however, Negasonic should be the prime candidate for Symbiote Spider-Man. Not only does it reset Negasonic's ability when merged, but if activated on Turn 5 or 6, it could destroy any six-Cost card off the board.

Best Marvel Snap Symbiote Spider-Man Decks: The Silver Symbiote

The Silver Surfer deck could be a natural fit for Symbiote Spider-Man by merging with key cards. (Picture: Untapped.gg)

Symbiote Spider-Man synergizes with Destroy, Darkhawk, and Mill decks, and perhaps one of the most consistent power hunger decks in Marvel Snap: the Silver Surfer. This does mean featuring the Silver Surfer and Sebastian Shaw package along with key cards like Nova and Forge to ensure that Sebastian Shaw gains power when needed.

The Symbiote Surfer deck from Marvel Snap content creator Ankh, which is always the key strategy in building a Surfer deck, is having enough three Cost cards for the Silver Surfer to target. The difficulty that often runs with Surfer decks is the later turns, which is how Symbiote Spider-Man could resolve this gameplay issue with these types of decks, as it could merge with some interesting targets like Forge, Grand Master, Cassandra Nova, and Gwenpool.

It remains to be seen how well Symbiote Spider-Man merges with Sebastian Shaw; we'll playtest this combo to see if it's a good candidate, especially if it may merge its power with Sebastian Shaw. If they still need to power buff Sebastian Shaw, they can substitute Copycat for Nakia, which may be a better three-Cost card to include as another Surfer target.
