Best Moonstone Decks In Marvel Snap

Influential yet brilliant, Moonstone seeks to gain leverage over her opponents upon arriving to the battlegrounds of Marvel Snap.

The first season of Marvel Snap, the Dark Avengers, became more intriguing as developer Second Dinner launched a brand new in-game event, The Dark Avengers – Global Bounty, as Snappers band together to accumulate as many wins as possible to unlock bountiful rewards. This in-game event arrives alongside the much-anticipated January 2025 patch update and the latest card arrival, Dr. Karla Sofen / Moonstone.

Her arrival to Marvel Snap looks to revitalize the Ongoing card ability in repeating them at a single location, but is she worth the Spotlight Keys or Collector's Tokens? This guide unpacks all the questions and more by looking at Moonstone's ability, her key synergies, and top counters, plus three decks for Snappers to add her upon the card's acquisition in Marvel Snap.

Marvel Snap Moonstone Card Abilities Explained

Across the pages of Marvel Comics, Moonstone has used her superhuman powers and a highly intellectual mind to manipulate and influence others for rather nefarious deeds. It's her "manipulative mind" that helped her, psychiatrist Dr. Karla Sofen, to "convince" the original Moonstone to give her "his Moongem," which she absorbed "within her body" and granted her "his powers" which found her joining noted groups like the Thunderbolts.

Upon her release, Moonstone launches as a Series 5 card, with the final card stats as a four-Cost and six Power card. This card has an Ongoing ability, which, when played, will have the Ongoing effects of their one, two, and three-Cost cards as its location.

Moonstone is quite an interesting card release with a unique card ability of repeating Ongoing cards' abilities at the location, which as of writing, there are 34 one, two, and three-Cost cards with Ongoing abilities. However, there are a handful that Moonstone best synergizes with, and we'll explore those options in some deck ideas for Snappers to try out.

Nevertheless, Snappers are looking to add Moonstone to their Collection; she's available through the Spotlight Caches system, which recently gained some improvements in the January 2025 patch update, as they can spend their Spotlight Keys in hopes of getting this card. Likewise, they can alternatively spend 6,000 Collector's Tokens to buy this card from the in-game Token Shop for a limited period.

Best Marvel Snap Moonstone Decks: PatriotStone Zoo

Moonstone's addition will encourage Snappers to give them control over which Ongoing card abilities they wish to repeat at a location, which is pivotal when playing specific deck archetypes like Zoo and Ultron-themed decks. Having a solid stat line of four-Cost and six Power, she can be quite a powerful card when played but easily countered like Echo, Rogue, and Enchantress, who can steal or turn off her ability.

As Moonstone can provide much value in revitalizing less utilized or older Ongoing cards, a few cards will greatly benefit from her ability, as evident in this deck from Marvel Snap content creator ReZ Snapper. This Zoo-inspired deck spotlights Ant-Man, Dazzler, Mystique, Patriot, and Cosmo as potential targets for Moonstone, but the best playline is reserving a location with Patriot, Mystique, and Moonstone while playing Ant-Man and Dazzler in adjacent locations.

Once the Patriot / Mystique / Moonstone location is set up, Snappers can start playing out Squirrel Girl and Mysterio for the no-ability cards to be at other locations and, if possible, Blue Marvel to grant power buffs across the board. This should make playing Ultron more appealing as it will add its Drones at the adjacent locations, which will gain buffs from all the Ongoing cards in play and secure Snappers a much-needed victory!

Best Marvel Snap Moonstone Decks: The Living Negative Stone

Another great deck archetype that synergizes well with Moonstone is the Tribunal archetype, which includes Mister Negative to make higher Cost Ongoing cards possibly more viable in Iron Man, Super Skrull, and Blue Marvel.Super Skrull is another one of Moonstone's notable counters, but it can also work to their advantage in case of mirror match-ups, so it's a worthy inclusion for this specific deck.

Marvel Snap content creator dddrewsky cooked up this Negative Tribunal-style deck, which, by default, Snappers will have Ravonna Renslayer and Mystique as their best targets for Moonstone. Most of the cards in this deck will be played on curve from Turn 2 onwards, but Magik will be a significant card to play to extend the match in getting important cards out on curve, especially once Mister Negative is on the board.

Although we advise holding out on Mystique until later turns, Mister Negative can be played if Ravonna Renslayer is out, but if not, Magik can be played into Jubilee in the hopes of cheating this card out from the deck. All that's left is playing out either Iron Man, Blue Marvel, or Sera on Turn 5, Onslaught on Turn 6, and The Living Tribunal on the final turn.

Best Marvel Snap Moonstone Decks: Moon Hand Discard

In the Victoria Hand guide, we spotlighted a Discard deck that perhaps is a great synergy for the aforementioned card, and we're featuring it here once again, but with a slight shake-up. While this deck may have two Ongoing cards, it's possible to swap out Grandmaster for Mystique to grant her more effects from Morbius and Victoria Hand.

This handy Discard deck from Marvel Snap content creator ZombiesGoNomNom (yes, that is the creator's name) pairs Moonstone with the aforementioned Ongoing cards: Morbius and Victoria Hand. The Collector has also been factored into this deck due to the inclusion of Swarm and Helicarrier, which will gain power buffs from Victoria Hand.

While Scorn won't gain the power buff from Victoria Hand, it will buff Morbius and The Collector, and likewise for Moonstone, who'll repeat Morbius and Victoria Hand. The Discard drivers featured in this deck can be any cards Snappers so choose, but for this deck, Blade, Colleen Wing, Gambit (or Lady Sif), and M.O.D.O.K. have been prioritized, especially given that M.O.D.O.K. will rid their hand of unnecessary cards they don't wish to play or those generated by Helicarrier.
