Marvel Snap's September 2024 spotlight notable Spider-Man allies and villains who have assisted the "Friendly Neighborhood" Spidey throughout his decades-long comic book journey. None has been quite prolific in aiding Spidey and other Spider-People than Cassandra Webb, better known as Madame Web, who's arriving at Marvel Snap for this season.
While she may have multiple afflictions that instead helped her develop her all-powerful "precognitive abilities," she has helped most, if not all, the Spider-People she has encountered across the Spider-Verse. This multi-web guide looks at Madame Web's card abilities, assesses key synergies, and finds some good decks to try playing the card within Marvel Snap.
Marvel Snap Madame Web Card Abilities Explained
Born without sight and a neurological condition that allowed her to become one of Marvel Comics' most powerful psychic characters, Cassandra Webb utilized these powerful abilities to aid fellow Spider characters in times of need. Adopting the moniker of Madame Web, Cassandra's "precognitive abilities" have established her to be Peter Parker / Spider-Man's greatest ally and has guided him and other Spider-People, and she'll continue to aid them as she's coming to Marvel Snap.
When Madame Web becomes available in Marvel Snap, the card will be released as a two-Cost and one-Power card with a potent ability that peers into potential future plays. The card has an Ongoing ability that moves one card away from Madame Web's location every turn, making this card prime for inclusion in Move decks.
Plenty of synergistic cards like Human Torch, Dagger, Kraven the Hunter, Multiple Man, Vulture, and Miles Morales: Spider-Man will significantly benefit from Madame Web's ability. The same can be said for Move-hybrid cards like the Phoenix Force and Spider-Man 2099, which could be seen being paired with this card.
Snappers can anticipate getting Madame Web from the Spotlight Caches during its release week, which requires using the Spotlight Keys to acquire the card possibly. If spending keys isn't possible for them, they can spend 6,000 Collector's Tokens to purchase Madame Web from the Token Shop during the aforementioned release week before adding her to their Collection.
Best Marvel Snap Madame Web Decks: Symbiote Moving Force
We've mentioned that Madame Web will be a centerpiece card for the Move archetype, especially when deckbuilding, but does it have value outside of Move? This deck addresses this avenue by finding key cards that could greatly benefit from the card's ability.
Granted, Madame Web can be easily countered by cards that clog locations like Debrii; naturally, Destroy decks could be a good home for this all-seeing card. This deck, which was inspired by another Marvel Snap content creator, Tuccrr, this Symbiote Force deck from Marvel Snap content creator Docty, swaps out Nico Minoru for Madame Web with noted Move cards, Ghost Spider, Human Torch, and Multiple Man for some early move plays once Madame Web comes into play.
Ideally, the Human Torch should be targeted to destroy by Carnage, Venom, or Deathlok before being resurrected by the Phoenix Force, which can be moved to any location and gain power thanks to the Human Torch's ability. This makes it a great target for Symbiote Spider-Man to merge with, play Arnim Zola to destroy and copy it at the remaining locations, or let Venom consume it along with Nimrod before hitting it with Zola for the victory.
Best Marvel Snap Madame Web Decks: The Negative Web
The Move archetype could see some unique variations based on previous card releases that could make Madame Web more valuable for its inclusion. While we'll likely see Madame Web in pure Move decks, a few other archetypes could synergize well with the card, like Bounce and Negative-type decks.
The latter is true in this Negative iteration of the Move deck from Marvel Snap content creator Rez Snapper, built around Mister Negative to flip key cards' costs and powers like Madame Web, Dagger, Mystique, Ironheart, Iron Man, and Taskmaster. This allows these cards to be played much earlier but helps players set up locations for priority once Madame Web is played, which could be a great target for Mystique to copy.
This lets players place Human Torch, Dagger, and Vulture on either location with Madame Web or Mystique, which sees following turns where these cards move around the board, gaining power. This can be opportune for Ironheart, Iron Man, and eventually, Taskmaster to be played if Shadow King and Shang-Chi have been baited out before Taskmaster copies the power of either Human Torch, Dagger, or Vulture for the win.
Best Marvel Snap Madame Web Decks: Moving & Bouncing The Web
As mentioned previously, building a deck around Madame Web could see unique versions of the Move archetype being played other than Destroy and Negative, which Bounce is yet another good one to consider. A handful of cards could work with Madame Web, including Beast or Falcon, to return cards to the hand, and one underutilized card in Hercules, which takes center stage in this deck.
This Move/Bounce hybrid deck from Marvel Snap content creator Docty sees the inclusion of Beast to return cards to players' hands, like Ghost-Spider, Human Torch, Iron Fist, and Dagger from their counters like Shadow King and Killmonger. This also averts cards like Dagger from gaining priority before being countered by Shang-Chi once the card returns to the hand or gets moved away by Madame Web or Hercules.
This makes it much safer to play these cards once again once Shadow King, Killimonger, and Shang-Chi have been played, and Doctor Strange can help Dagger or Vulture secure location priority. Once Turn 6 occurs, if they enter their hand, they can play Heimdall to move all cards before Madame Web and Hercules move certain cards for priority before the game ends.
