The season of "Maximum Effort" continues in Marvel Snap as the next card release is about to release, adding one of Deadpool's most recognizable allies and love interests. While many MCU audiences have yet to see the official debut of Vanessa Carlysle as Copycat, they will get to see her in-game as the next card release for the popular card battler game.

Copycat is poised to be the best card release for this current season and is already stealing the hearts of players with her unpredictable card ability that robs an opponent's card of theirs, just how powerful will she be at launch? This guide addresses whether Copycat is worth getting by looking at her card ability, some key card synergies, and featuring three decks worth stealing to play in Marvel Snap.

Marvel Snap Copycat Card Abilities Explained

Vanessa Carlysle may have spent many years in the dark circles of prostitution, but her chance encounter with Wade Wilson/Deadpool, and the subsequent events that followed seemingly gave her a newfound purpose. After all, she too is a mutant with the ability to "duplicate" another person's appearance through physical contact, operating under the name of Copycat and becoming one of Deadpool's most notable love interests; she has followed the Merc with a Mouth to Marvel Snap in the current "Maximum Effort" season as the next card release.

Copycat is a three-Cost and five Power card upon her release in Marvel Snap and has a rather unique static card ability, which allows her to "steal" the bottom card's text from their opponent once drawn. In terms of mechanics, Copycat will "steal" this text immediately when drawn, and if she's in the opening hand, she'll "steal" the text, but the ability won't be revealed to the opponent until she's in play, giving players essentially a "free ability" at a low cost.

As Copycat will be available to get from the Spotlight Caches, alongside Cull Obsidian and Thanos, players can use their Spotlight Keys to acquire this card or other cache drops. Additionally, the card can be purchased from the Token Shop in-game for 6,000 Collector's Tokens, but this card is available for her release week, so if they're wondering whether to "Snap" or "Pass," let's look at a few decks and her key synergies.

Best Marvel Snap Copycat Decks: Cats Rock & Roll

While Copycat technically doesn't have any great counters, other than Arishem, that can significantly reduce her card value, she has some key synergies that could frustrate opponents if she "steals" a card's ability. Korg and Rockslide are perhaps two of Copycat's best card synergies, as these cards will shuffle Rocks into their opponent's deck, and they feature heavily in Darkhawk decks.

As Darkhawk gains +2 Power for every card in the opponent's deck, having Coppycat copy either a Korg or a Rockslide and shuffle Rocks while having Korg and Rockslide in their own to play can further maximize Darkhawk's power gain. Courtesy of Marvel Snap content creator ReZ Snapper, this rocky Darkhawk deck packages Korg and Rockslide with Copycat to ensure their opponent gains more Rocks shuffled into their deck to further increase Darkhawk's power, and the same can be said for Master Mold, giving their opponent's two Sentinels to their hand.

Spider-Ham and Black Widow are the tech cards that will disrupt their opponent's gameplay by limiting the options of cards they can play on the next turn. Ronan the Accuser has been factored into this deck if players don't draw Darkhawk into their hand, for which it gains power for cards in their opponent's hand, which Master Mold helps with, and Mystique guarantees they gain priority at another location by either copying Darkhawk or Ronan.

Best Marvel Snap Copycat Decks: Mill And Copy

Copycat's card ability not only lends itself to synergizing well with Darkhawk decks, especially which is a strong counter to Arishem decks, but her ability can work quite effectively in other deck archetypes like Mill decks. This gameplay style, which is based on drawing or "recruiting" cards to the side of the board or their hand, Copycat could potentially steal abilities from Baron Zemo and Cable to reduce cards within their opponent's deck.

Mill decks can be frustrating to play against when their opponent reduces their deck by destroying cards with Gladiator and Yondu or drawing a card away from their deck like Cable and Baron Zemo, which recruits a card to play. This variation of the Zemo Mill deck from Marvel Snap content creator Docty also throws in Spider-Ham to further limit the options of cards to play.

Doctor Octopus will fill up a location unless Copycat "steals" an opponent's Doc Ock ability, and Shang-Chi can eliminate any high-Powered cards that may be played in later turns. Magik, which remains one of the best three-Cost cards to date, can prolong a game if players need extra time setting up their board and if they need priority, Red Hulk has been added as a final turn card.

Best Marvel Snap Copycat Decks: The Cat Surfer

Without Sebastian Shaw, Silver Silver decks can still gain prominence with the inclusion of Copycat into these decks. (Picture: Untapped.gg)

As Sebastian Shaw has been enjoying some success outside of the Silver Surfer meta due to the arrival of Gwenpool, Copycat, being a three-Cost card, is another great target for Silver Surfer to hit. Naturally, including Copycat in a Silver Surfer deck without Sebastian Shaw means that players will want to build a deck with other notable three-Cost cards that can still spice up the game and gain priority.

Another deck courtesy of Marvel Snap content creator ReZ Snapper features some amazing three-Cost cards for Silver Surfer to target, like Brood, Hope Summers, and Copycat herself, with Nocturne there to move locations and prolong the game. Players can swap out Nocturne for Magik if they don't have this card, while White Widow will give their opponent the Widow's Bite to deal with, which Polaris can move a card away from the Widow's Bite location.

The pairing of Nova and Killmonger will bolster all cards' Power while eliminating any one-Cost cards currently in play. They can add Sebastian Shaw to this deck if Power is what they lack and can swap out cards like Quake and still benefit from Silver Surfer and Nova's power buffs if this is what's missing from this deck.
