Marvel Snap is Venom, as the October 2024 season has gone live with new content to look forward to throughout the month. This season adds seven new cards, two new locations, a new in-game mode, and a refreshed Season Pass, which Snappers can acquire one of its latest venomized heroes.
Agent Venom is the latest Symbiote-infused hero to join the popular card battler game as he gets another chance to serve his country for honor despite being unable to control the Symbiote suit. This venomized guide details everything about the October 2024 Season Pass card, Agent Venom, including the card's ability, key synergies, and some decks that spotlight this card in Marvel Snap.
Marvel Snap Agent Venom Card Abilities Explained
Spooky season has found its way to Marvel Snap this October as the month puts a spotlight on all things Venom in this Symbiote-themed season. The "We Are Venom" season adds seven new cards to the popular card battler; the first is the Season Pass reward card, Flash Thompson, also known as Agent Venom.
Within the pages of Marvel Comics, Thompson acquired a symbiote suit from the US government to become their symbiote-powered hero after losing his lower limbs while on active duty. Assuming the moniker Agent Venom, he can use the suit's symbiote capabilities to face some of his most formidable enemies, including the Green Goblin, Doctor Doom, and Jack O’Lantern, and he's bringing that to Marvel Snap in its latest season.
At launch, Agent Venom is a two-Cost and four Power card with an On Reveal ability to target all cards in a player's deck and set its power to four. This ability does draw some comparisons with Phastos and Pixie, which target costs and powers of cards in the deck, and Valkyrie, which can set power to cards at a location.
As for acquisition, Agent Venom can be earned through the month's Season Pass reward with its base and variant cards available at Level 1 and 50, respectively. If players don't get the Season Pass this month, never fear, as this tasty card will return as a Series 5 card drop next month, which can be purchased from the Token Shop for 6,000 Collector's Tokens.
Best Marvel Snap Agent Venom Decks: Venomized Bounce
With Agent Venom ready to be deployed to the battlefield in Marvel Snap, this card's On Reveal ability should give Snappers some deckbuilding ideas on which cards to pair it up with. Perhaps one of the best early decks to try alongside Agent Venom is pairing low Powered cards that can benefit from the power buff.
As expected, Bounce and Zoo decks would be a great fit for Agent Venom; however, don't expect them to cause some major rumblings within the meta, but that doesn't mean it won't secure victories. The first deck is a Bounce deck that sees a few low-Powered cards perfect for synergizing with Agent Venom's power buffing ability, which this venomized Bounce deck comes courtesy of Marvel Snap content creator DenHearthstone.
As Agent Venom's ability will target all cards in their deck by setting their Power to four, there are a handful of cards that will greatly benefit the buff, including The Hood, Rocket Raccoon, Silver Sable, Spider-Ham, Nico Minoru, Black Swan, Falcon, Sage, Werewolf by Night (WWBN) and Iron Man (pretty much most of the deck). As alternatives, Snappers can opt for Hit-Monkey in place of Sage if they have yet to acquire the card and Bishop for WWBN if they're struggling to play around with this card.
Best Marvel Snap Agent Venom Decks: Agent Thanos Zoo
We've mentioned Bounce decks being a good deck archetype worthy of including Agent Venom, but so are Zoo decks. This specific deck archetype has been thriving over the past few seasons, thanks to noteworthy cards like Caiera, Gilgamesh, and recently Marvel Boy, and it looks to be a good place to slot in this venomized agent.
However, with Thanos added to this deck, it can be a potential target along with the Infinity Stones, which may or may not be an issue in reducing Thanos' power if only some of the Infinity Stones have been played. This inevitable deck from Marvel Snap content creator ItsGuestGaming focuses on deckbuilding around Agent Venom and Thanos with key cards to receive the power buff but also protect the one-Cost cards.
As Snappers are looking to play out as many or all the Infinity Stones out for Thanos to get his max Power, Caiera will be protecting those cards with Ant-Man and Iron Man added for a lane power buff. Additionally, we see Marvel Boy and Blue Marvel provide more power to cards with the Red Guardian and Shang-Chi as the preferred tech cards, as Thanos and Blob will be safeguarded by Caiera in case an opponent's Shang Chi targets them.
Best Marvel Snap Agent Venom Decks: Toxic Surfer Agent
The final spotlighted deck also focuses on another interesting deck archetype that Agent Venom may feel welcomed to set all cards in their deck to four Power. While other potentially strong deck archetypes like Discard exist, there is something intriguing about factoring the card into Silver Surfer decks.
Snappers have one of two options: either slot Agent Venom in standard Surfer or Affliction-based Surfer decks, such as this toxic Surfer deck from Marvel Snap content creator Docty. As always, the core cards like Ironheart, Silver Surfer, Sebastian Shaw, and Wong form the backbone of the deck along with Brood and Absorbing Man to copy Brood's ability for Surfer targets or to copy Hazmat.
Hazmat will be the Affliction card to play in this deck, which can be played at the Wong location, but hold on to Luke Cage until the end. This will allow them to play Odin on Turn 6, or if they've played Magik, then Luke Cage can be played on Turn 7 with Silver Surfer to buff all three-Cost cards, including Sebastian Shaw.
