Marvel Rivals has become a massive success following its release this month, as millions of players across consoles and PCs have hopped into the game to "ignite the battle." As the Timestream Entanglement is on the verge of collapsing the Multiverse, players globally have assembled to prevent this from occurring, helping the game reach a monumental milestone following its release.
In fact, in the short period after its release, the superhero team-based PvP shooter welcomed 10 million players globally to the Multiverse, which the developer recognized. Additionally, the game had peaked at over 480,000 concurrent players as of 8th December 2024, according to SteamDB, to cap off its release weekend.
NetEase Games released Marvel Rivals for consoles and PCs, which coincided with the launch of its launch season, Dooms' Rise, in which players explore its story by jumping into matches. With 33 playable characters available at launch, plenty of cosmetic skins inspired by comics, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and more, a robust Anti-Cheat system, and a great Monetization model in play, this had attracted millions of players to the game at launch evident in a recent social media post.
The developer posted recently to the official Marvel Rivals social media accounts that within the 72 hours following its release, the game had reached "an incredible milestone of 10 million players worldwide," and they thanked its player base for supporting the game before and after launch. As mentioned before, the game had a successful launch weekend as SteamDB recorded over 480,000 concurrent players on 8th December 2024, and the game averaged around 350,000 players between its release and the aforementioned date.
NetEase Games has been greatly promoting the game through daily news announcements and their current crossover collaborations with Fortnite and other Marvel games, including Marvel Snap, which has generated much interest alongside its closed testing periods. While Season 0 will be a relatively short season, according to the developer, we can anticipate more details on what's to come in the coming weeks.
