It's no secret that Hunt: Showdown 1896 fans have been less than thrilled with the game's current state. In response, Crytek has unveiled its plans to make 2025 a year of fundamental improvements, focusing first and foremost on quality, performance, and balance issues. Their latest sneak peek at the upcoming 2.3 update highlights the first wave of changes aligned with this roadmap - and surprisingly, fans have found little to criticize. Let’s break down the details.
Fans Are Praising Crytek for the First Time in a While Over Their Upcoming Changes in the 2.3 Update
If you've been following Crytek's plans to tackle the game's core issues heading into 2025, you may have seen their recent Developer Insight blog for the 2.3 update. This update isn't a small one, with plans to address Traits, ammo types, weapons, damage numbers, in-game objects, and much more.

When I first read through the changes, I expected fans to find fault, as they typically do with any change Crytek attempts. However, this time, I was pleasantly surprised. Over on the Hunt: Showdown 1896 subreddit, fans were actually in agreement with the developers, with many expressing excitement that they couldn’t find fault with the new approach.
Replies in the thread read, "I'm astonished, almost every single change is great here. Also, the focus on stability, improving the core game, and reducing power creep is fantastic," while another user echoed the sentiment: "I erased the 'almost' on my notepad. Seriously, I can't find a single thing I disagree with. Maybe they bought me with the 'cheaper uppercut.'"
While some fans still express disappointment over unresolved issues, the majority of commenters are far more positive about this direction compared to recent discussions and feedback. If Crytek takes anything from this response, it's clear that players are more interested in fixes and improvements than waves of new content - at least for now.
Of course, we still need to see how well Crytek implements these changes, but based on this response, the future seems a little brighter for the Bayou and Colorado in Hunt: Showdown 1896.
