Honkai Star Rail Warp Trotter Guide: How To Find & Defeat

While exploring the many regions of Honkai Star Rail, you may have come across an odd-looking creature. This creature, unlike many of the other overworld enemies, will never try to engage you in combat. Instead, it will simply cower in place or actively try to run away. Even upon entering combat, the enemy will never attack until it is eventually defeated or escapes from the battle entirely.  This is a Warp Trotter, and they are relatively rare enemies in stark contrast to the rest of the enemies in Honkai Star Rail. However, there is a lot of incentive for taking down a Warp Trotter, as they offer far greater rewards than your average enemy spawn.

How To Find Warp Trotters In Honkai Star Rail

Much like with Chests, players can access the map in order to see the total number of Warp Trotters that remain in a certain area. Warp Trotters cannot be farmed indefinitely and will not respawn after being defeated (similar to chests after they have been opened). Players will need to search the area for the elusive Warp Trotter until they manage to corner it. 

However, the fun doesn't stop there because now you need to engage it in combat. This is trickier than it sounds as Warp Trotters move quite fast and oftentimes will outpace your sprint speed while they run away. It is recommended to use a character with a ranged basic attack (such as Bronya) to initiate combat from a distance. 

How To Defeat Warp Trotters In Honkai Star Rail

Unlike in the Simulated Universe, where Warp Trotters have abilities to shield allies, counterattack, and provide healing, Warp Trotters in the overworld will simply enter a scared state when engaged in combat. They will never attack and will escape the battle after three turns. Here is the flow of a Warp Trotter's combat cycle:

• Warp Trotter Turn 1: The Warp Trotter will shiver and cower behind other enemies. 
• Warp Trotter Turn 2: The Warp Trotter will cower even more, and it will "try to escape." During this time, the Toughness bar can no longer be broken. 
• Warp Trotter Turn 3: It will escape the battle. 

It is important to focus all of your attention on Weakness Breaking the Warp Trotter as soon as possible and defeating it before it can take three turns. Skills like Freeze are especially great against Warp Trotters, as this delays their action even further. If you fail to defeat the Warp Trotter, simply exit the area and re-enter, and it will have respawned. 

Players can earn lots of rewards for defeating Warp Trotters, but the most appealing is the 60 Stellar Jade per kill.
