Ex-Rockstar Developer Suggests GTA 6 Might Still Face Delays

In between all the claims, speculations, and vague confirmations from Rockstar about the release date of GTA 6, a former Rockstar developer has offered some insider perspective. After working with Rockstar for 14 years, Obbe Vermeij has suggested that we should temper our expectations for an on-time release of GTA 6.

In a Twitter post, Vermeij noted, “The decision to delay GTA IV was made around 4 months before the original release date. Any further and it’s hard to make the call.” This means that it's too early to expect a confirmed release date for GTA 6, and delays are more likely at this stage.

Given that GTA V was one of the most successful and technically impressive releases of its time, it makes sense that the developers would want to meet or exceed that standard with GTA 6. Vermeij echoes this sentiment, stating, “They are not going to release the game until they’re 100% happy with it, regardless of what’s said in the trailer.”

While a March 2025 release is possible, Vermeij suggests that if the game isn’t ready by then, Rockstar will not hesitate to delay it, potentially even into 2026 if necessary. Of course, this remains speculative, and we just won't know until we get closer to the promised release period from Rockstar.
