Will there be Ghostwire: Tokyo 2?
Unfortunately, as of this writing, Tango Gameworks has not announced Ghostwire: Tokyo 2. Given how the original is a timed exclusive on PlayStation and has yet to arrive on Xbox, the company that acquired Bethesda and Tango, a sequel seems far-fetched at this point.
However, that doesn't mean there won't be a Ghostwire: Tokyo 2. Ghostwire director Kenji Kimura explicitly discussed the possibilities of a sequel and the franchise's future in an interview with IGN Japan.
“I think that when things calm down a bit more, and when I’ve cooled down a bit more, I’ll have ideas for DLC and sequels, and I’ll want to make them,” says Kimura. “Nothing has been decided yet, so I can’t tell you anything more than that.”
As it turns out, Tango Gameworks have not thrown away the idea of a Ghostwire: Tokyo sequel. If anything, there could be one sooner rather than later. However, a lot of it should depend on how the game performs on its base platform, which is Xbox.
Ghostwire: Tokyo is a timed exclusive on PS5 until 25th March 2023, so you shouldn't expect it to release on any Xbox platform until then. Xbox and Bethesda may also not greenlight a sequel until then.
Will there be Ghostwire: Tokyo DLCs?
Similar to a Ghostwire: Tokyo sequel, there's no official confirmation on Ghostwire: Tokyo DLCs. However, producer Masato Kimura in an interview with wccftech.com remained hopeful for DLCs and the franchise's future in general.
This is what Kimura had to say on the matter -"We’ve just finished the game. We’re in this comfort zone of that relief of just being able to finish a big thing right now, so we haven’t given that much thought quite yet, but after we get some rest, it’s likely that we’ll start thinking about something cool. If there’s an opportunity to create DLC, then that’s something that we’ll probably want to think about. As developers, we always want to continue making and improving the work that we’ve done, so DLC is always something that we want to do, but that really depends on the success of the title and how the community reacts to the release of Ghostwire: Tokyo. We’ll have to wait and see, but if the opportunity arises, it’s something that we’ll definitely want to jump on.”
Kimura's statement doesn't confirm nor deny the possibility of a Ghostwire: Tokyo DLC. However, if Tango's past releases are any indication, the chances of a Ghostwire Tokyo DLC or DLCs are pretty high.
The Evil Within got a season pass that contained three DLCs. The Evil Within 2, on the other hand, didn't get any story DLCs after launch.
And that's everything you need to know about Ghostwire: Tokyo 2 and Ghostwire: Tokyo DLCs. In short, there's no official news on either of the two.
