Genshin Impact's Spiral Abyss is notoriously known within the community for its long and arduous grind, which isn’t recommended to complete unless you’re up for the task. Provided with the necessary information, travellers can be well-prepared to make the journey for which can be greatly rewarding.
While it's easier said than done, this guide will assist travellers with the key information they need to know about this mystical location as well as its floor layout and recommendations, restrictions, rewards systems and more.
What you need to know before starting Spiral Abyss
Before heading out to locate the entrance to the Spiral Abyss, there is key information travellers need to know ahead of time. The location will require plenty of time and patience to complete each floor as the grind will consume most travellers’ attention.
Travellers will need to spend time before ranking up characters essential for completing Spiral Abyss. This is crucial as there will be a challenge during the early stages which will see travellers utilising teams to complete the floor.
How to get to Spiral Abyss?
It is careful to note that this location won’t be available from the beginning of the game as the Spiral Abyss can only be unlocked once players have reached Adventure Rank 20. To reach the mystical location situated at Musk Reef in the Mondstadt region, travel to the edge of Cape Oath where travellers can spot a portal in the sky.
Not easily accessible, travellers will need to look for the three Seelie statues slightly below this portal. Defeat the enemies in this area for the wind current to be unlocked which can be used to travel to Musk Reef.
Divided into two main sections, the Abyss Corridor and the Abyssal Moon Spire, With three chambers and 12 floors for travellers to navigate and fight their way through, the Spiral Abyss comes with its ranging difficulty levels to make it more challenging.
Spiral Abyss floor level recommendations
As mentioned previously, there are 12 floors for travellers to complete during their run across the two sections. Each floor comes with its difficulty level which increases as you progress to each floor.
In addition, you will notice the first few floors in the Abyss Corridor are required to be completed within a specific time window. If players can’t progress from a floor in time, a new strategy will likely need to be considered.
After completing floor 8, travellers can progress to the Abyssal Moon Spire section. Travellers need to know that the Abyssal Moon Spire resets on the 1st and 16th day of every month to correspond with the lunar cycle.
Spiral Abyss restrictions
Once initiated, travellers will notice that there are a few restrictions imposed on them throughout Spiral Abyss. During your run, you won’t be able to access the menu however, it will autosave your furthest progress for travellers to continue or redo the previous floor.
Other notable Spiral Abyss restrictions include:
-
unable to cook or consume rations and meals
-
change characters in your party
-
change equipment
-
unable to level up characters
Spiral Abyss Benedictions
After making the necessary upgrades and levelling to your party and safely travelling to Musk Reef, travellers can start heading to the Chamber. Each chamber will offer travellers a choice that will affect a specific chamber or an entire floor.
These are called Benedictions which allow travellers to decide between three random benefits that can affect players’ statistics or abilities. Depending on which benefit better suits your character build, this will aid players when completing a floor or chamber.
As noted by Redditor, 2Board, there are three types of Benedictions travellers will encounter: “effective this floor”, “effective this chamber” and “effective immediately”. The Redditor made a note that travellers should select the “effective this floor” benediction “for the first two chambers” while selecting for the final chamber the “effective this chamber” Benediction.
Spiral Abyss rewards
The rewards system for completing floors and chambers in Spiral Abyss are dependent on the level and difficulty. The notable ways travellers can earn rewards is by completing each Chamber for the first time and gaining enough Abyssal Stars for each floor for a bonus reward.
As standard, completion of each chamber gives travellers the opportunity to be rewarded up to three Abyssal Stars. On each floor, players can also earn Abyssal Stars ranging from three, six and nine stars.
Other rewards travellers can expect include Mora, character and weapon experience items but what travellers really want is the Domain Reliquary box. This box rewards travellers with an artifact of a certain tier.
